Long story short, myself and a few others decided we wanted to do a few bits for Charity, but it needed to be a real challenge...and being from the world of media I wanted to do something that used all my skills.... so we created the Le Mons 365 challenge!
I'm Neil, 40, married, own business and spend too much on my cars, Lotus, Porsche and now Mercedes!
As soon as I knew we were pitting sportscars against each other I wanted to do it in an SLK. Not because I wanted one, but because I never wanted one (don't worry I regret that now...it's a bloody awesome car!)..so it was a search as to what version I needed (there's a whole thread on this coming soon!).
So, four months on, we have 9 people who have all bought a sports car up to £2500 (this is the cost of an air ambulance to take off) of their own hard earned monies into what they hope will be the winning car, and not a complete lemon.
Over the year we will be raising money for Make A Wish UK and Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance by attending car related events and having buckets, raffling some of the cars through the website (including the SLK), selling merchandise, etc. The drivers will all be competing in various challenges, to earn points. We’ll be testing the cars in various ways; on track, at Santa Pod, in an MPG run, a WAGs review, trying not to break down and call the AA, and so on.
Our loser will be responsible for the bar bill at the final party and we’ll end the year by all driving down to Le Mans (the real one) for the 24 hour race and having a bit of a drink. And we’re all paying for this out of our own pockets so we can give as much money as possible to the charities.
Oh, and we’ll be filming all of it! In fact we’ve already shot the first episode (coming soon), and we been filming up and down the country including challenges at Brands Hatch, Santa Pod and other venues.
At some point we're looking to put the three SLK models side by side so hope you guys will help us out.

I'm obviously hoping you guys will help me on my journey to prove my choice, the 320 SLK is a formidable car against some very stiff competition, and I’d love you to help us out with one of the challenges at some point. We have a big fundraising event near Gatwick very soon, that once I understand what I can say on this forum I'd love to mention.
Cheers,
Neil (Lemons) Reed
