I must admit that does look quite impressive in the flesh, and the heart does say 'yes I want one of these':

...but the head says that they could have been a bit more adventures with the design, yes the front end may be attractive but the overall body style still looks just like any other run-of-the-mill SUV, e.g.:

I wasn't taken buy the F Pace at all, I found the interior quality poor.

It even had switches from the old Ford Escort still being used in the cheap plastic trim in the back.

They will sell in droves.

Are they all buying their body shells from the same supplier now? They could have called it the Jaguar Cayenne or Jaguar Squashcat.

Just very uninspiring. You have a blank sheet of paper and a budget. You sit down photo-shop the truck up the road, then stick your engine in it (assuming they have not nicked that as well?)

Very lazy design.

Looks dated already imho. Shame really, as the XE and XF look great, albeit very similar. The XJ, however, looks fantastic I think, although I wasn't so sure at first.

Speaking of which, are Bentley still using the steering wheel out of a VW ToeRag for the Continental?

I think it's just a sign of the times and the only manufacturer that this criss-cross of parts can't be aimed it is Mercedes (although the Tesla has something to do with the W212 iirc)

I would think that most of the guys I worked with at Browns Lane in the sixties will be thinking WTF have they done now. Mind you considering that they are made by Tetley Tea Bags, perhaps it's not a bad attempt at building a Quashcayennemokka/chevytrax...!!!! sort of thing.

Very lazy design.

'Me too' design to join everybody else in the sector.

My feeling is that they should really leave it to LR but I guess the marketeers see the likes of the GLC, X3, XC60, Macan, and Q5 and decide they need to position a product in that sector.

If I was looking at this sector then the GLC and the XC60 would be my main focus.

That will be a base spec four pot diesel model, I'm a fan of the 'S' model in full black, they look stunning in the flesh and the rear is beautiful imo:

I don't do SUV, well not at the mo:D but if I did I think the new Volvo XC90 looks good in styling terms and in £££ compared to the others...

I past a convoy of F-Pace durability testing I think whilst in Montenegro some months ago, they do have road presence but so do most large ~SUV's.

Yes but.... while the car dressed-up this way looks fantastically intimidating.... I think that the credit for this should go to the trim/kit designers who made a good job out of mediocre design, not to those who 'envisioned' the base model.

In contras... personally I wouldn't buy an Evoke, but kudos to RR for pushing the design envelope.

Bentley: no there steering wheels have changed. Nice nice too but the new Bentayga I was less than impressed with. I got a shot of a loaner my neighbour had and whilst it is capable it nothing special. And all the shiney bits, cheap plastic!

Land rover are in a hot spot right now, lovely designs and even half decent reliability.

Re the Jags I was at all of the new launches and i was seriously S disappointed at the interior design and build. It was if their designers were locked in a room for the past 10 years, unaware of the current competition from Germany.

Well MB parts did go into Chrysler cars during the 'wilderness years'... :D

But the other way around seems to be contained for now - and the Renault Diesel engine did not become a bridgehead...

I spotted an article about Skoda launching a king size SUV starting at £23k.

Might be a good second hand buy in a few years.

Just as bad as BMW using a Peugeot engine.
