Some of you will have seen my post in " Engine" referring to a strange noise I have been hearing. Following a B service by a nearby "specialist" I was told it was bearings in the gearbox and a new box was required at a cost of £1500. They had confirmed this by running the car up on a ramp and using a stethoscope on the box. Being a cynical person I took it to James Leigh in Merton for a second opinion. Turned out the handbrake cable was rubbing on the propshaft which he fixed for nothing, together with a fuse which had blown. All done in 20 minutes. Can't recommend him highly enough. Saved me a load of money which a gullible person would have paid out.
Anyone in the SW London area should give them a try.

It is such a common fault that.

We used to see at leat one a week at the dealer.

What handbrake cable rubbing on propshaft ?

That sounds like a really bad design if that happens

Nice to hear it's been fixed for little money.

Obviously the original Inde. isn't to be trusted, I doubt a dealer would have pulled such a stunt.

because it is a dispute between two parties and one may be biased against the other and naming and shaming could just be part of a scheming plot.
Understandably.

James is a down to earth person, good to talk, knowledgeble and explains the options...i recommend james leigh strongly
