Yes, it's that time of year - the annual St Andrew's Night Officer's Mess Dinner in the Great Hall at Edinburgh Castle (always held on the nearest Friday to 30/11)

And what better way to confirm another year older and fatter than the traditional palaver of the dummy run to ensure the damn outfit - err - fits.

...well - sort of - but can I hold my breath for six hours?...

A rather refined woman approaches a Scotsman in full highland dress at a social gathering. "I don't know how to ask this really but there's something that has always intrigued me. Is there anything worn under the kilt?" "Thanks's for asking lassie" came the reply " But everything's in purfect working order";)

Very similar tartan to mine (Clan Farquharson), which 1 is that Del ?

About 30 inches too short with they bloody legs!

Will look better with long socks, and a Dirk of course.:thumb:

My daughter says I have scottish legs -- Thin and Hairy.:D

Bugger aff! It just touches the ground when I'm kneeling...

Spot on! The top of the hose is to be just below the knee, the bottom of the kilt is supposed to be 3-4 fingers from the top of the hose. The old Drum Major of the Pipe Band I ran was the RSM of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in the late 50's-early 60's. He also stated that the top of the kilt shouldn't be below the navel. Army regulation for the Highland regiments apparently? ;)

I may be a Sassenach, but I LOVE haggis neeps and tatties.
and tattie scones
and IRON brew (first sampled on the Waverley many years ago)
and Laphroaig
and ermmmmm....... bagpipe music (played properly)

OK guys, time to come out,,,, I think I'm a closet Jock!!:eek:
