Anyone know the type and significance of the two twin engined prop aircraft flying with the Dakota today?

It seems the RAF own some for multi engined training. 'Looked a bit weird next to the Dakota to me.

They were, I believe, from the training college RAF Cranwell.

Perhaps they were training in the area and thought 'why not?'

Was the Vulcan supposed to be flying and these stepped up at the last moment?

I don't imagine that a Dakota and a Vulcan would be able to fly next to each other for long, although for a fly past I think I'd choose a Vulcan over a King Air every time.:)

The one regrettable thing is that not one Concorde was kept airworthy for occasions such as this ; it would still have been an outstanding symbol of British engineering .

Is English antagonism toward the French the reason?
