Jump Starting R129

The battery has gone flat on my 300 SL -24 I have heard horror stories of people jump starting them. I am thinking of disconnecting battery and then charging away from the car. Is this going to cause any potential problems. As my owners manual does seem to suggest that jump starting correctly is not a problem.

Jump starting is ok if done correctly.

However, if you have time on your hands, then recharge the battery without removing it from the car, connect the charger leads to the battery terminals first, then switch on the power supply to the charger at the mains.

When charged, switch off the power supply at the mains and then unconnect (unconnect, new word?) the charger leads from the battery terminals.

Charge it off the car if you can

When disconnecting the battery, take the earth off first. When reconnecting, connect the live first
