Hi there,

My wife recently bought a Mercedes CLK320 Elegance, 04 plate with 40,000 miles on the clock. I believe i need to change the cambelt after 100k miles or 10 years, so next year — it will be due.

We live in West London, by Ealing and having never owned a Mercedes before i was hoping for some tips, in particular, a recommended garage in the area that is a MB specialist.

I have read through the forum, and seen the following;

John Fern, Richmond - but i got the impression, while being good, they are expensive. I also herad of Klasse of Fulham. I saw a few other posts, but they were by new members to this site and not sure if that is other garages posting on the site - so id appreciate a long time members reply as to anywhere they can recommend.

Also, any ideas on how much i'm looking at for a CLK320 cambelt change would help soften the blow a bit i think :-/

We are picking the car up 2nd November 2013 so if there is any other tips we can look out for (we have only paid a deposit so far) i really would appreciate it! For example - i read you have to fill up using high grade unleaded - is that true? anything else i need to check for on the car, it looked pretty clean to me.

Sorry - just thought of another question! We coudln't see a phone cradle in the car, but the stearing whelle has all the controls and the sat nav unit had a phoen button, id like to get it to work with iphone, preferably via bluetooth, is there a car kit i can look at or any suggetsions on getting that to work?

I have more questions, but will keep it to a minimum for my first post!

sorry for all the questions!

An excited and but slightly pensive future CLK owner!

For bluetooth you need to make sure the connector is in the top section of the armrest. If it is you will need a Viseeo bluetooth adapter if its pre facelift - CD based comand - or a Viseeo or MB bluetooth adapter if its post facelift. If no connector then its a big job. I would be surprised if a car with comand was not also specified with the phone kit. They all have the buttons but it does not mean it has the kit.

Hi,
The 320 is camchain driven, NO belts! Just belt for the altenator/waterpump.

Another thumbs up for Wayne Gates in Harrow. Excellent service and Terry is a nice guy too! :)

Wayne Gates in Harrow - ask for Terry

For phone and comand issues speak with comandonline give them the chassis number and they can tell you what the car left the factory with. There are loads of options and prices can vary depending on what you want but really helpful bunch of guys.

As for fuel pretty sure it only requires standard 95 unleaded

Excellent- thanks everyone! I will definately check out wayne gates. Ill just have to wait until we pick it up as i dont recall a bluetooth adapter in the arm rest.

Im sure ill be back on here with more questions soon enough :)
