Hi people, after much deliberation and after waiting 15 weeks for ford to fix my mondeo (under warranty) I have decided to go german.

I had always been a beemer man, however a new guy started at work and he drove a 56 200 cdi avantgarde, i was really impressed with the looks of the car although i found it rather sluggish so i still wasnt convinced. However with a top budget of 20k cash i started to shop around the bmw dealerships. I had my eye set on a 320d m sport manual on a 56 plate, then i sat in it, i found the side bolsters on the seat quite uncomftorble like they were poking at my kidneys, bear in mind im 6,3 and 19 stone. So i then looked at the se which whilst having standard seats just looked boring, maybe there are just too many out there.

I had talked myself into an se with auto and leather however for my 20k i was struggling and the sales guy wasnt keen to negotiate anymore than a 400 discount, which considering the time of year and the immediate payment did suprise me.

I left the dealershp unconvinced, on the way home i started to think about steves car and how it would be unwise of me to rule the merc out although i would need the 2.2 as it was a little faster so i got home that night and went on to mercedes direct site, the birmingham branch is about 10 mins away by car from me.

The next morning i went there and drove the car which i have to admit was obviously less powerful and slower than the BMW, i was drawn in by the looks and the equipment and the sales guy was also a lot more helpful.

This is what i ended up with:

http://www.directmercedes.co.uk/veh...t%3d%26startdate%3d%26perpage%3d10%26page%3d2

I managed to get the follwing :
12 months tax
Bluetooth
Starshield with starshield insurance
Sports Mats
An aluminium trim piece swapped out for a new one (dented)

All for £20100

I collect the car on wednesday and i am so looking forward to it.

I only found this forum after buying the car but i think i did ok with what i chose anyhow.

I would like to add the pod integration to this, any know how much it is. I would also like the auto wing mirrors actvated and the tyre pressure system actived anyone know who can do this and cost.

Let me know what you think

Andy

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first Merc. I too tried a BMW (330D Sport) before going for my first Merc, but like you found it way too uncomfortable. Since my first C-class, I haven't looked back!

I'm sure Alfie or Richard will be along soon to fill you in on coding

Welcome to both the forum and MB ownership.

Nice car!! ;)

Hello and welcome

I had a 330ci BM convertible before our little one arrive and now we both ended up with mercs..

I found the bm comfy ? (sports electric seats?) however in the ML I do have far more room :)

I'm pretty much the same at 6ft2 and .....stone :)

enjoy the Merc.

Welcome with that nice car, as jeremytaylor Richard or Alfie will tell you if the things are possible

Welcome to the forum Andy. Lovely looking Merc :bannana:

Thanks for the replies, i am so excited to pick the car up on wednesday, just a quick note, does programming the ecu invalidate the warranty ie for folding mirros etc?

Thanks Again
Andy

Pics to come when i get it

Alfie can fit an Ipod adapter and he and richard can do the STAR re-program too.

I am sure it doesnt invalidate the warranty...but they can confirm

and welcome to forum -- nice car with nice spec...

Welcome to the forum Andy....The C class W203 does look very smart in black.:D

Welcome to the forum! I have bought two E class estates from Mercedes Direct and been very pleased with both. As you have found, the prices are not set in stone and represent very good value with some negotiation.;)
I'm sure you will enjoy your car:D

Welcome Sir............Very similar to my recent purchase...........

Lovely cars............A good choice ! ! ! ! ! !

Welcome.

I got my MB (my first MB) from MB Direct Birmingham too. I found them a revelation after other MB dealers as they actually seemed to want to sell me a car! I was very pleased with the deal I got.

One thing I would say, though, is to make sure you get everything you want - that trim replaced, all the paperwork etc, sorted on the day of collection. Their after sales support - at least for me, 80 miles away - is somewhat lacking! Maybe it works if you can easily pop in.

For any upgrades/Software/intergration related issues i have to say the right people and by far the best, even better than mercedes would be Richard and Alfie, top guys and love what they do, for servicing and mechanical work i would say BlackC55, all top guys and will help you no matter what the issue is.

And nice car!

And it's welcome from me....

Welcome to the forum - great crowd on here, loads of great information on well, anything really!

I used to drive a 318ti which whilst I like BMW I am far more comfortable in my tank, sorry E280 estate;) . Whilst it's an L plate about to turn to 200k miles it's a joy to drive :).

You sound really excited and I can't blame you Andy! Enjoy! Congratulations and welcome.

Natalie

bit late but welcome to the forum...:bannana: bunch of great people on here ''''hope you enjoy you first mb and years of happy motoring ..regards jon:)

The Mercedes experience is great until you want to part ex then the shock comes, MBs hold their residuals, who are they kidding, they offer peanuts. Yes I was there yesterday, I almost hit the salesman when he said the 5K they would make on my car is because they need the profit.
