Hi all,

I've just seen a thread about the car I've just bought, the black CL55 AMG with the butter/cream interior - Reg: CL51 AMG
banana.gif

There were a couple of thoughts (Pete & Will) that it was too expensive at £16k, although because of it's condition, FMBSH, 1 owner and low miles (55k), others felt it was worth it.
It's true there are a couple of small bubbles on the n/s pillar, but I'm hoping I can get Merc to fix that gratis, as it has FMBSH and there's the 30 year guarantee on this, ISN'T THERE??
The next service is a big one, Merc quoted £1,100, as it needs plugs, brake fluid, filters etc - still they are thieving gits :wallbash:
I got a quote from my local indy, In Autos, Newchapel and they have quoted £735, I may go down that route.
As I make all my cars immaculate and complete, I'm going to spend half a day and bring the cream leather back to 10/10, I'm very fussy and I would say that it's currently 8.25/10, so it's still in an acceptable state right now, just not quite how I like it.
Apart from the 2 small bubbles on the pillar, the bodywork is in excellent condition, even down to the front spoiler, it's all very clean and sparkly.
Anyway, I also have got them to send all 4 alloys away for complete refurb, so that takes care of that too. (I used to own an alloy wheel refurb business, so I've told them what I expect).
Finally, I didn't pay £16k, I didn't even pay £15k......so I'm hoping I've got a decent deal for a 1 fastidious owner, full dealer history and 55k mile car:thumb:
Would be great to hook up with other AMG owners, any words of advice gratefully received and also any club days, meets etc would be good too.
N.B. - what are the weaknesses to look out for, I've just come out of a Jaguar XJR, so I'm used to heavy car suspension problems, this one's more comlicated thoug, with the anti-roll etc.
Leaky dampers also sound like a nightmare and at £1k a piece, that's eye watering...........
Any thoughts will be great.
Cheers

Yes i went to see the car and you noted mine and Will's comments. Apart from the Bubbles on the C Pillar the rest of the exterior was immaculate and the interior was what attracted me in the first place, a very unusual colour as you said needs lots of TLC and it will look brilliant.

If you have a problem when you take the car to the MB Dealer for the rust and if you get a negative response let me know and i will give a couple of names at Milton Keynes to email which might help. I had a couple of issues with the C$£ and got it sorted.

All the best with the car and can't wait to see it after all the work has been done.

We have GTG on the last weekend of every month at MB Brooklands, look at the events to get the confirmed dates,

The reason i did not buy it was not a pre face lift and it was not a Kompressor.

I have now found my CL55AMG Kompressor, it's only taken me eighteen months !!

And welcome to the Forum. The best MB Forum around.

Thanks for your note Peter, I'll check the events calendar and look forward to seeing some of you at MB Brooklands, great place, went there the other month, great food in the restaurant too!
Thanks for the offer of assistance regarding the 'bubble fixing' Peter, I'll definately take you up on that if they get cheeky.

Good choice of car. I do love them. Make sure all of the ABC system is working and not leaking. This is important. They have a tendency to leak.

Hi and welcome,

I'm pretty sure I actually said that I thought it was a lovely looking car , love the colour combo and it sounded like a peach. Obviously you've got a couple of small jobs to make it immaculate (as with almost any used car), I think my only other real comment was that it was a little optimistically priced to start with - but it sounds as though you've negotiated a fair price :)

Anyway - it sounds lovely and I look forward to seeing it one day at a GTG perhaps :thumb:

All the best,

Will

Thanks Will, I'm crossing everything she's all I think she is too.
Look forward to meeting up at a GTG soon too.

Pete

Hi and welcome looks a cool car

Your new car looks absolutely fantastic, I hope it brings you many miles of happy motoring.
If you don't want to pay MB dealer prices take it to a specialist!
There are some great MB specialists around. I live at the top of the A3 and I travel down to BlackC55's workshop whenever I need bits doing to it and I work in the motor trade myself so he must be doing something right!

I keep meaning to make it to one of the Brooklands meets as I've never met anyone of this forum before, so perhaps we should make an effort to go ourselves one day!.

Welcome to the forum. :thumb:

Your car looks lovely. :)

To reduce the Merc service costs, you can supply your own oil. Make sure it's the correct spec though. Most dealers are happy for you to do this.

Can only dream of getting a car like that lol...
