Just collected my first MB and wow, lovely drive!

Originally wanted black but really happy with this colour. 102K, Full service history at MB and specialist including the AT oil and filter change so happy about that.

Few questions:
  1. It doesn't seem to have DAB. Is that an optional extra or buried somewhere in the menus?
  2. Couldn't seem to find a way to actually connect the bluetooth with my phone, only activate it. Do I need an app for it?
  3. Is the ECO mode button near the blower temp different to the E mode on the transmission? What does it do?
  4. What exactly does sport mode do? I couldn't tell much of a difference.
  5. Does the ECU need a 'reset' to learn my driving style? I head some BMW's need that.
  6. Is there an affordable way to update the satnav maps?
  7. Anything else I need to update? (COMAND?) or will that lower power? I read something about a MB update that took a few BHP off for emission I think.
I do notice a lag between putting the foot down and feeling the car respond. Is this due to the E mode I was in or the ECU having to adjust to my driving style?

Thanks

One of the best MB colours period .

Power coated 7 twin spokes too ?

Privacy glass , leather ?

Drive by wire throttle lag .

Lovely motor!
The E coupe is gorgeous, especially in 350 cdi guise, and that colour is great, much better than Black, enjoy!
:) 👍

Everyone seems to suggest having a proper stage 1 map than these plug ins. I like how it can be removed easily though.

Not tinted yet, unless there was an option from factory?

Alloys are bit scuffed but original so I might get them reconditioned if not too pricey. :)

Yes Stage 1 if you fancy 700+ Nm !

Sometimes addresses the throttle lag .

The plug in I suggested is a pedal box rather than a tuning box .

Eco near the blowers is stop start.

Sport mode holds each gear longer before changing . Keep an eye on the rev counter .

Lovely looking car , good choice over black. You won't regret it.

Great looking car good colour the sat nav is up to you pay a lot for a genuine disc or get one from the net,as for a stage 1 well I would not do it on a 102k car but it is your car,I always liked the coupe .

More than enough performance as standard tbh.

The latest sat nav map cost me £99 at the main dealers last Sept. V19 for Comand NTG4.5 unless a newer version has been issued.
You won't regret that colour instead of black believe me. Black looks great when just cleaned but hell to keep looking nice.

Connecting your phone via bluetooth is easy via the Comand menu. You'll need to turn on your phone bluetooth and IIRC the car finds the phone. All instructions should be in the user manual.

Brilliant engine that 350 CDI 👍

Sport mode should eliminate some of that lag as it'll have you in a lower gear to start. E mode has you in a higher gear, good for mpg, bad for responsiveness.

Does the disc update the full COMAND software or just the maps? A quick search online and seems some people sell the software to update COMAND and activate some 'video in motion'. Is that just so you can play a DVD whiles diving? lol

Maybe a xxx dvd in a field ?

The maps update on your COMAND NTG4.5 is done via a download from the Internet onto a USB drive, and then the maps are copied to the internal HDD in the car. The maps download is free, though you will need to purchase a PIN code to install it in the car, which costs ~£150. Alternatively, some dealers offer the code plus installation for £99, and that’s a bargain so phone around (not all dealers offer this). The current version is V19.0 which was released in late 2019, so you might want to wait and see when the next version (V20.0) is out. Keep in mind though that the satnav in your 2012 car will not have live traffic (TomTom Live Traffic was introduced in mid-2013).

The maps updarw for COMAND is separate to the navigation software update. The navigation software is updated whenever a firmware update is carried out to the COMAND unit. The firmware itself is free, but it's not a DIY job, so you'll need to pay someone with STAR diagnostic equipment to update the firmware, and expect to be charged half hour to one hour labour. Any dealer will be able to do this, as well as most independent specialists.

And, your COMAND Online unit can connect to the Internet via Bluetooth tethering to your phone. But keep in mind that iPhone is not supported, so you can only do this via an Android (or Nokia) phone.

Just use Waze or Google maps on you're phone, I'm a professional driver and they're the best and they're free. Buy a really good phone holder like a RAM Mount X Grip.

For reference, your E-Class Coupe is a C207, and it is based on the C-Class Saloon W204.
