What an experience, I drove an AMG SL60 yesterday and boy could that thing shift.......seriously seriously fast.
Packing a M119 V8 under the hood which AMG have bored out to 6.0 litres from 5.0, this engine prodcuces nigh on 385bhp. There are only a handful of these cars in the country due to the cost when new, and are very rare to see, so it was nice to get the chance to give it a go.
Having owned a 500E with the 5.0 version of the M119 engine, I thought that an extra litre would not make a whole stack of difference, but how wrong I was.
The great thing about the SL60 is that its quite understated, so its like being in a stealth bomber, nobody suspects a thing, then BAM you've just been SL60'd !!
The ride is a little harsher than a normal SL500, but then you would expect that, but other than that its completely civilised and just as happy driving in heavy traffic as it is driving at speed.
It will be a drive that goes downin the memory banks
And if anybody is interested, the owner is selling the car...more details in the classifieds section.
