Popped over to Diamon alloys at northolt and had them refurbished. I was gonna go for the diamond cut option but i would of lost the AMG lettering. Alloygators fitted as well!
Also replaced the centre wheel cups as the originals looked really bad after 12 and a half years on the road.

Nice job on the wheels, Just had mine done last month....

And yes that thread on PPC was very good reading, Glad i managed to get a set of standard 18" wheel for my SL - The insurance wasn't the reason, it was the crack in the rim on the after market wheels that did it! But good to know:cool:

Be careful with the alloygators, read some where that they ain’t all that, also read that if they come apart whilst driving, it will and has scratched the bodywork.

They actually cause your wheels to corrode as they trap water too 🤣

So you install them to protect your wheels however they have the opposite effect

Yes that was the description about trap water.

Not sure if there was a poster on here or on another forum, where he said the Alloygater came apart at the joint whilst he was driving, and you can guess what happens whilst still driving, looked bad damage on the pictures he posted.

Not saying it will happen to the OP, but good to be mindful.

THEY'RE not for me either!...to be blunt they look hideous!....why don't they make them silver at least. As said they cause more issues that they prevent and they don't even do the job....touch the kerb with anything other than the lightest touch and they will be torn straight off. ......Wheels look great though!:)

They do do duvets. I mean they do do silver, grey too. The angled profile (no long produced IIRC) look more subtle than the rounded profile too.

They do cause damage to the lacquer of diamond cut wheels, however they do genuinely protect the wheels from major side impact damage,

Think of them as enabling you to recut the wheels every 5 years, for maybe 25 years or more as only the very slightest cut is required to restore perfect finish.

Without them, then touch the kerb and you may only get one or two cuts (if you’re very lucky) before there is too little metal to cut again. and that could be a few years apart,

If you have very very expensive wheels and tyres without any rim protection then a set of angle profiled grey Alloygators can be a god send and worth the hassle.
