E220 Bluetec SE MY2016
Afternoon all,

I part-ex'd my 2012 Volvo XC90 last week for a 2015 E-Class E220 SE Premium Plus with full MBSH - the Volvo has been an immense family car and has had everything chucked at it living in the moors where we are but I fancied a change.

This is my first MB so I'll have a lot of reading to do while getting my feet.

I've had VWs and Audi's before and was a big fan of the German cars, I think I did a combined 200k in my old Passat and then Passat CC and hoping the Merc will continue the high milage tradition (I do a lot of milage these days). I've also been a big Jap fan in my time and also have had a few Lexus models and currently an LS460 which I use for crunching motorway milage but the plan is to sell that and just downsize to the one car. The LS has a crazy standard options list though so quite a few toys I'll be missing like radar cruise and cooled seats but hopefully lots of new toys as it's 14 years old so doesn't do Bluetooth music etc through it's Mark Levison sound system. The radar sensor failed on it and needed replacing which was a £2.5k bill (they initially wanted over £7k to fix it!!)

I've found a local specialist already to get all the software updated (this is an ex lease car so not sure if the dealers automatically apply any updates found in Star). It certainly doesn't appear so as the Carplay options are missing from the Dealer Menu.

Once done I'll be having a go at using one of the Airplay / Android Connect enabling devices which is currently on it's way from Belarus.

I'm just reading into paint hardness as will be having a punt at paint correction myself too - the car is the Tenorite Grey and seemed very glossy but I usually strip them back and then go from there, hoping they haven't filled in too many scratches but will find out when I strip it back. There are definite swirls and holograms so hoping I can improve things.

I picked up an iCarsoft MB v2.0 and so far it's a clean bill of health although coverage does seem a bit limited for my W212.001 model (30 modules seen from memory) and DPF regeneration etc isn't currently supported.

I've got a few hundred miles under the belt now from Thursday and was expecting higher MPG but seems 44-45 on a run is what a lot of people are getting from the 2015 era E220. It was supplied on fumes and the local Shell garage only had Fuelsave diesel so gave it a tank of that and then brimmed it with V-Power yesterday. A bottle of Archoil AR6400-D has arrived today so I'll be running that through when I've emptied this tank full.

I've upgraded the maps to the latest April 2019 released Europe v12 maps for 2019 / 2020 as it was still on the original 2014 maps even though the service sheets seemed to indicate the dealer had been checking for updates at each service.

Someone does seem to have scratched off an old rear window sticker with something sharp and removed some of the antenna / heater element tracks. Hoping it's something that can be sorted by an autoelectrician or even a DIY repair kit.

Anyway that's me so off to do some more research - thanks for reading :)
