Perhaps you're going to explain why they still do it then Peter?

Because you keep obsessing about it and goading them into reacting that way maybe? You obviously got a bee in your bonnet about it the first time and maybe you felt emasculated by it somehow and are still hurting. I don't know, but I wish you'd get over it and move on.

I had moved on.

The O/p was not being realistic expecting Mercedes to strip the gearboxes out of all the cars before sale. I don't see what other issue I raised.

This has been going on for at least the last two years, so hopefully now you understand the friction surrounding some threads.

If anyone disagrees with any member that drives a certain AMG model, they get significant abuse (swearing, mob culture, nasty PM, threats of violence) and then called jealous because they won't be subservient.

Why would I be jealous?

C63 envy is quite natural. There is an attraction in an infeasibly large V8 engine in a German taxi. This can either be seen as a natural form of enjoyment or a baby-polar-bear raping of the environment, with all intermediate stations available.

It has become part of this forum, a percentage of owners and non owners appear to relish this debate with various levels of assertiveness and skin thickness.

As a spectator its great sport, the right answers, wrong answers and ingrained prejudice all fighting for survival.

So from me, a petrol, diesel, auto/manual, and oh-so-nearly C63 owner, thanks for the entertainment...:D

Pipe down 'Horrible Ives'.

It's the same on every forum, the higher a persons post count the more likely the are to exhibit characteristics of Aspergers Syndrome. You've just to be patient with them. They can't help it.

Yet more insults. Anything more to add Moonie?

To accrue a high post count just means a long standing and posting in useful areas.
Recently I commented that no-one was answering technical queries at all. New members wouldn't get a single reply and would leave.

What useful posts have you made, Moonie?

Look I don't care two hoots about jealousy, friction, splinter groups or post counts.

I do care about rudeness, disingenuous posting style and hyperbole to prove that one is "right". That is/was my issue about how this thread turned out. Now maybe I'm wrong but I saw your approach to it as beginning at abrasive and migrating to persistently disruptive. It's clear to see that you have misrepresented much of what I said in the earlier part of the thread and I don't know why you did that. I can see that you have history with a certain group of members many of whom seem to have a certain model of car - for the record having read more threads from the past I am of the view that neither faction emerges with much credit. I wonder if your antagonistic approach to this thread was because you naturally assumed I would assimilate with such a group ?

It's clear to see that you have misrepresented much of what I said in the earlier part of the thread and I don't know why you did that.

Which is where you and I will disagree.

You mentioned a number of times that you were annoyed and that the gearbox should have been removed to check for the possibility of a faulty seal as a pro-active service measure.

If it really is just a disappointment and loss of faith then it doesn't really warrant the cost involved in being pro-active, if it's a real safety issue then it will be done.

Unless cars start setting on fire, Mercedes won't do that.

As far as my own circumstances are concerned that's a bit of a red herring. I explained that this was less an issue of inconvenience and more one of disappointment and loss of faith.

I am very disappointed and annoyed though that given that the TSB would seem to have been in circulation longer than the car has been in my ownership that this wasn't picked up either at the factory or the supplying dealer.

As for the PDI part in my experience with certain other manufacturers TSBs are applied and or checked before the car is released to the customer.

I'm not whining or moaning I'm just saying I'm disappointed. I don't think that's unreasonable is it ?

I hear what you are saying - doesn't make it any less annoying though.

I find it surprising though that for something potentially so dangerous they didn't proactively make the retro-fit.

2 - re "major fault" I agree with your technical view. The ramifications though were potentially very serious indeed, taking the gearbox out is small beans compared to the potential for the car to go up in flames.

Haven't noticed it-please explain?:dk:

I think it`s better if the person I`m talking about explains as to why does he send us pm`s saying we`re trolling but I VERY MUCH DOUBT HE WOULD DO SO

A remarkably selective approach once again.

You ascribed behaviour and opinion to me which were both manifestly untrue and in my view deliberately antagonistic.

I stand by my view that I was disappointed that pre-emptive measures weren't taken. I am aware that a small number of vehicles were released into the wild with a known fault and a high risk of failure, I have previous experience where manufacturers have applied all outstanding TSBs including some which required significant workshop time, prior to customer collection. I just don't understand why you felt the need to be so obstreperous in response to this combination of personal experience and sentiment.

It's clear you have strong views and no little experience. I don't know why you had to behave so unpleasantly on this thread and as I said previously I assume it's because you have wrongly assumed my allegiance to the group of owners you seem to have such an issue with and as such you considered me "fair game".

Ok,thanks for sharing that-i had no idea this sort of behaviour was going on,best left for the mods to deal with & i'm sure they will, however much people disagree about different subjects(it's a public forum after all & everyone has/is entitled to their own opinion)there's no place(on here or anywhere else)for threating/abusive behaviour(bullying).

I've been deliberately keeping out of this thread and yet still get the above thrown at me twice, which is somewhat tedious as it's been leveled by all C63 owners at anyone who doesn't bow down to them, hundreds of times, on this forum.

Seeing as you two have mentioned it now, would you please explain what you mean.
You've deliberately been keeping out of this thread?-really?,you want me to explain my jealous comment?(i don't need to,you already know exactly what i mean).

I don't know why you had to behave so unpleasantly on this thread .

I've re read my posts to you and don't agree with your comment here.
What I did was challenge your assertion that Mercedes should have removed the gearbox to check for the seal.

If you recall, I didn't even rise to the bait of being called an odious little man, by you.

Yes I have been keeping out and I do want you to explain. :)
