Now need to work out how to get to Hemel Hempstead from Wales :) and hope the thing is what I have been told :)

Yeah think so looking at the pic lol

Mate at merc ran the factory spec for me and she's got elec front seats, folding rears, front armrest, a/con, xenons, headlamp wash, asr diff and the monoblocks :)

Few rust patches but liveable for the money :)

The w202 c230k is probably the best non amg car of its generation.
What it lacks in refinement at high revs is more than offset by its lively nature once the kompressors kick in at around 1,800rpm.
The foldable rear seats on the saloon are very rare and a useful option.
Xenons and electric seats are rare too.
Good Luck with your purchase.
Hopefully it will not have been abused by its owner.
Apart from the rust, my experience would say to get the entire front suspension checked out by an expert. Provided bushes and joints are replaced as necessary, the car will still feel the same as it did when new.
I have owned my c230k saloon from almost new so can vouch for the effects of mileage on the suspension.

Cheers mate :) pretty much what my mate was saying, forgot to mention its a manual, another rare point :)

The bodywork isn't too concerning due to the colour, not like a pain in the bum to match like silver!!

That looks great !

Relocate the MAF and Dremel the airbox in half only for smiles per gallon !

Chris

Great cars the 230. Use genuine Merc parts for the bushes and suspenders, anything else is a false economy. Standsby for incoming.

I'm sure I recognise this car - now you say it has a manual gearbox I'm almost certain that's Graham C230Ks old car?

I think he lives/lived close to the general area that car is located too :)

Quite a lot of stuff on the forum about him and his car. I don't think the AMG wheels were on it from factory though (had 16" sport wheels originally). Avantgarde grille also a later addition - amongst other stuff - remap etc.

Be interested to see/hear more about the car again :thumb:

Would any of you fine chaps bring this thread to the attention of GrahamC230K via pm? I can't pm yet, too new, and would appreciate his input :) cheers JD

I know that car ! Seen it many times and I know Graham retrofitted cruise control !

Glad to see the car is alive and will be back on the forum soon. Going by the location, it could well of only had one other owner since I sold it, either that or it remained local anyway. How many miles is it on now?

150k now, I was reading the cruise control thread and wondered if there were anymore interesting threads about the car? found the gearbox one too :)

Hoping for it to be a replacement for my track sl*g Honda Civic with the bonus of doing school runs..

Be nice to finally see the thing next week, manual 230k's are like rocking horse sh*t lol

I'll try and give you a run down. I've found the advert and for the number of owners it looks like it has only had the own owner in between you and I and they didn't put that many miles on it.

From memory I bought the car in 2003 with approx 43K miles on it. I bought it from a well respected, family run and known to me garage in Croydon, that had previously supplied my prior C200.

I owned the car until May 2006 and when I parted with it it was on 109K miles. I sold it via a a dealer in Ason Clinton, Hertfordshire. I sold it sale or return so know at that point it went directly to a private individual.

It was a very well and rare specified car. If manual w202 C230K's weren't rare enough, a late model one with electric cloth seats and factory fit xenon headlamps certainly is.

I had cruise control retro fitted and that stayed with the car, as did the original staggered 17" AMG alloys I purchased for it. I had upgraded audio, sat nav, a phone console and an AMG exhaust backbox, but I returned the car to stock in those aspects when I sold. It had a dimming interior mirror too, I can't remember if I left that in or not. I only removed a few parts I had added though, it was as per it came from the factory or higher when I let it go.

In the ~67K miles I had the car, I loved it and it was a great car. It never wanted for anything and was maintained by a MB specialists. It did give me a few bills, replacement gearbox and a new ECU (ouch). It was well exercised but never abused.

When I parted with it had only had paint on the front drivers wing (due to rust), but didn't have any other signs. No rust on any of the arches, under the door rubbers or around the boot lock. Knowing what w202 MBs are like, I suspect that is not the case now, but I hope it is not too bad.

I can't tell you much more I dont think, at least not anything that is current. It was certainly owned by an enthusiast for almost half of it's miles though.

Here you can see it on the far end of the row outside AMG in Germany and a snap of how I remember it.
