Just renewed my car insurance.

My renewal with MoreThan came in at £399 fully comp for my SLK so I did a bit of undercover work on their website. First stab was a quote, to include all the cover details that was on my renewal, of £384  which I saved for later as my current certificate has got a week or so to run.

Tuesday gone, I get a call from someone called Ruby at MoreThan customer services and she asks me if I am happy with my renewal quote to which I reply, sort of but after playing with your on-line quote system I get a lower figure for the same cover. She asks me for the reference number which I dont have with me but we arrange to talk again and if I can quote the on line reference number to her she will beat that,(their own  ) quote.

In the meanwhile, I try the website again and this time I get a lower quote of £375   . I have not yet spoken to Ruby, I thought that I would wait until after the holidays.

In the meanwhile - meanwhile I tried Esure's webby system and they are quoting me £349 :D . Do you think if I keep on chugging away like this I will get it for nowt in the end?, I cant wait to speak to Ruby ;)

Portzy.

Keep on chugging. ;)

Don't forget that www.quidco.com - if you buy having gone through that site should offer cashback of £100 to £130 if you buy via lloyds tsb or prudential and perhaps some more...
My better half went via lloyds and got a years fully comp insurance for £70 in effect.

Just got to see if it is competative anyway - for some people it will still be better to shop elsewhere.

SLK 230 Insurance

Hey could do with some help on the insurance front, been with Tesco's for a while but they seem to have upped the price dramatically on their renewal which is due in september. My circumstances havent changed so I don't know why. Had a nose on http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ seem to be throwing back some cheap deals but wondering if this is a good idea? has anyone got any advice on the subject? or any recommendations :)

Check the cover and support offered. Sometimes it looks cheaper but you're nor getting as much for your money.;)

Welcome btw.

9 yrs NCD, clean licence : £418.95

*sigh* my last insurnce premium for more than double that.

with 4 years NCB on a group 13 BMW 320td diesel hatchback.

obviously I had to give them a few quid to change to the SLK.

my problem is location of course, manchester city centre, next to ordsall and salford, with no garage does not a cheap insurance premium make.

crumbs - a lot of these quotes are really high!
£480 with prot. no claims and legal etc fully comp for my E500. (less for my Ford Focus Estate :( )

I hate to think what my renewal next year is going to be, despite me having 9yrs Claims Protection?

Your no-claims protection is a discount applied after the premium has been calculated so it should still have a decent effect.

Needless to say that all the recent flood damage is going to be reflected in all our insurance premiums, home included.
