C220d (2015) and OM651 powered Infiniti Q50
Just took delivery of a nice white C220d (65 Reg) with under 53k on the clock.

SE Executive trim level, so I know it’s not top-spec but makes a lovely second car.

Anything I should look out for?

I assume this is powered by the OM651 bi-turbo Diesel engine, so any points anyone suggests I look at would be great.

This one is the wife’s, but I’ll get to drive it when she’s moaning it’s underpowered an needs a blast ha ha.

I’ve got a Q50 at the moment with the same engine, so she’s happy now as she went from. 0.9 Clio tce to this.

The issue with asking this question is that helpfully people will post each and every known issue with this car and engine, making you wonder if you haven't made a mistake buying this model... :D

But on a serious note, I would say that all modern EU6 Diesel engines require some attention, due to the complex post processing treatment system (DPF, AdBlue, etc). Doing mostly short journeys can be a problem, for example, so make sure that the DPF gets a chance to properly regen.

Other typical issues on almost all Mercs are faulty thermostat (engine not reaching normal operating temperature), faulty Front Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor (SRS faulty on dash), and faulty ABS speed sensors at the front (ABS/ESP error on dash).

With regards service history, dealer or specialist service is important, to ensure that the correct low-ash MB229.51/229.52 oil has been used, to prevent DPF issues later on.

The point on the oil is a very useful one. I’ll be sure to ensure the correct oil is put in.
