...Now owning a BMW (cue MBClub senior members booing and hissing :p ), I've joined many a BMW forum over the last 4-5 weeks. There's an instant difference in how people act and behave on those forums to this one...I posted 3 posts, 1 on each forum regarding a fuel pump...not one reply. In contrast, owners of newer BMW's are answered quicker and seem to be the tops in the forums.

In a simple sentance, pretty much all BMW forums are useless bar 1...unless someone can prove me wrong and show me one that IS useful. :(

Safe to say, I'll be staying at MBClub even though I'm half way on the darkside. 'Big up' the forum and the members...no where else can you get the banter etc that there is here. Older MB's are regarded as highly as newer ones.

That's all I had to say.

Maybe they wanted to get to know you better first:D What you say about this forum is true, certainly one of the best:rock:

I'm with you on this one...

I joined one of the main UK BMW forums, and while there is some useful stuff on there, and some good banter, you have to wade through so much useless tripe to find it. Hence why I barely look on it unless I have a specific reason to, whereas I'm on here at least half a dozen times a day.

:) A Mercedes-Benz IS A Mercedes-Benz :D

Park KLP's car alongside a number of new Mercedes-Benz and I would be surprised if an audience ignored his very nice car.

I'm sure folks are looking forward to seeing Janner's old banger at the forthcoming GTG

Regards
John

Maybe the BMW guys do not know the answers about their cars:D :D

Mate, it's true as well most of the time. I knew more about a freinds E30 325i than he did...

John, rightly said! KLP's car is one of the best examples I've seen.

Thing is, you go on a forum, and you want to feel welcome to post...bmw forums just dont have that; also hence why I'm still on here alot of the time. If I need something specific then I pay the bmw forums a visit, otherwise I really don't bother seeing as I have the e34 site to cater for most of my needs.

I had an E34 Touring before my acceptance into the MB fold, and couldn't find any online help with it [it was a 1994 and I needed the kind of reassurance this forum provides]. BMW information resources were disappointing to say the least. Needless to say I chickened out and got rid of the car.

As a 210 owner I suppose I ought to be more wary, but I went in better prepared than for any other car ownership experience.....

Excellent to hear.

I did find the Audi quattro forum very good in the past. Very knowledgeable people, but perhaps a bit specialised.

Thats just it. Mine's a 1995 model; the only way I'm getting on well with it, is due to me knowing 2-3 people who have had them in the past and have alot of knowledge about them. The only useful site was e34.net, which is brilliant, but not a forum...though I guess it helps with DIY stuff.

Most people on BMW forums are young 17-26 year olds with new BMW's asking how fast eachothers goes, which one will raise a manhood more when cutting up other drivers, etc etc.

In all honesty, I was going to go for a W210 E230 or E280, but I swung towards the E34 because of my childhood dream. That said, it's a bloody fine car to drive. :D

when i used to go to my local bmw dealer in shrewsbury i found a lot of the other customers thought they were to up themselves and to good to chat with each other.

Interesting comment. A while back I bought my other half an Alpina B3 3.3 coupe. Lovely car. But I had a problem with the car pinking. It went to three different dealers, spent £2500 trying to rectify it. Posted on the Alpina forum for advice prior to going to the stealers and the net result was zero help from either the forum or the dealers. Absolutely bl**dy useless

I'm not surprised.

I've had the same at BMW dealers when I have to drop mum's 525i for a service now and then...People look at me with bad stares and all sorts...I just give the keys etc, and get the bus home. I'd rather sit with a 'yoof' on the bus with his silly music pumping thru his freshly stolen mobile phone, than be looked at like I'm stupid or not good enough to be spoken to. I've only had this twice at an MB dealership, but all the time at BMW dealers.

this thread has opened a whole tin of worms about bmw owners!!!!!!!!hehehe

In fairness to everyone though it might have been an issue no one had experience of and paying out £2500 to try to rectify it suggests it might have been more than just a timing issue? :)

So, which is the best BMW forum IYO ??

yep, i agree. In the main, i dont bother with BMW forums (i do view/post on a busy 7 series US forum), but apart from that i find that the bmw forums are eitehr full of racers/boy racers/3 series guys

thats why i stay here :)

A BMW forum......don't you have to wear white socks first....and drive a motorbike..lol

Seriously - great cars ...but when there are more 3's than a Ford Mondeo sold - it loses something in the desirability stakes..

OK OK...I will accept the free gift of a M5..:bannana:

John; true say...but nonetheless, stealerships should be trained in dealing with issues to do with Alpina's, especially if they insist on getting them maintained and serviced from dealerships...it's useless.

Adam; I'd say either E30Zone or E34.net...the latter moreso because it's not a forum but more of a DIY site, which is what I'd read rather than threads and threads of 'How many 'gals' did u pull in ur 330ci?' or 'How long could you keep it up while going twice the speed limit with 6732763 girls in the back?', or, and this is the funniest one I've seen...

'Explanation of how I thrashed an SL55 AMG wit my E36 318is - by '318isDON'

It made me laugh so much I didn't even read the thread...!

Silversaloon; my point exactly...

Mr crockers; The new Mondeo looks ALOT better than the 3 series! People just want the 3 series for the name... . I haven't got an M5, but you can have a 525i...? All it needs is a fuelpump...:D
