Keeping a car if you do hardly use it???

Go with your heart, unless the economics are prohibitive.

That would be my thinking. I'm terrible for doing this. I have two cars stored which I've owned from new, hardly driven and yet can't bring myself to sell (Megane 225 and Twingo 133). Unless I need the cash, they'll stay put.

My CLS63 is nearly as bad, hasn't done many miles (sub 18k) but it feels really special when I do drive it. So until I'm in need of the money, I'll keep it.

Logically, sell it but if you love it and it feels special when you do get out in it, keep it. :thumb:

Weekend car for me too, with only 12k on the clock and totally mint. I've sold too many cars which only weeks after selling I've regretted, and years later I see what they're worth now and realise what a huge mistake I'd made, especially when I know I didn't have to sell them for financial reasons.

Here's some of the cars I sold, what I sold them for, and a rough value of them now :

1989 Sapphire Cosworth 38k miles in mint condition and show winning car, sold for 12k - Now probably worth 20k +.

2000 BMW M5 28k miles garaged all its life, sold for 14k - Now Probably worth at least the same, probably more.

2003 TVR Tuscan 9k miles, mint and featured in Classic Car Magazine. Sold for 16k - Now selling for anywhere up to around 30k.

2004 Renault Clio V6 Phase 2, 12k miles. Concourse Show winner. Sold for 16k - Now selling for around 30k.

2013 C63 AMG, 12k miles, mint - NOT SELLING

DONT SELL UNLESS YOU NEED THE MONEY. These will hold their money and as the numbers reduce they will appreciate. The Good Ones at least.

I don’t think the C63, as it was built in such high numbers, will appreciate, but hopefully will stay well above the curve.

Look at the low millage e46 M3s now up for sale for 20k +, I sold a 2003 M3 with 28k miles back in 2007 for £23k..

My Old M3 CSL on the other hand has done far better, I sold for 30K in 2009, it was sold last year with 50k on the clock for £55K Now that’s a car that I wish I hadn’t sold.

Ok if you have just left it in a shed for the last 14 years, no insurance, tax and servicing ect I’m sure it’s a very sound investment but running costs circa 2.5k per year eat into that considerably…

Perhaps cars like the CSL and the above are the exceptions to this, but the key is they are only very limited run cars.

Posted this before, but its a photo i particularly like...

She looks like a keeper to me..........:thumb::thumb: And a twin to my old one........

Agree, maybe the C63 won't appreciate in the near future, but I think the good ones will hold their money.

On the other hand :

E46 M3 CSL
Sierra Cosworth RS500
C63 AMG Black Series
Ford Escort Mexico/RS2000/RS1600/RS1800

Oh if only we had known the way they've gone :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

All Very affordable cars (Relatively Speaking) when they were new. Worth a bomb now.

The c63 black series was £98,765 new before options and has held its value well but not gained much value.

Agreed, but I wouldn't mind driving round in a C63 AMG Black Series for three years and then sell it for what I paid for it when new.

Three years free motoring in a car like that ......... :bannana::thumb::bannana::thumb::bannana:

Yes it's highly recommended. ;0))))

I have mini Cooper S (supercharged) it only does a few thousand a year and is immaculate but Its sometimes handy to have a second car and I'm hoping it will become a classic............

Well another three months have gone by and I have only covered 600 miles in the C63!!! So, I am really beginning to question the point of owning it as it spends 95% of the time sat in the garage…

I don’t need, or even really want to sell, as I can think of nothing to replace it with. But as values seem to be very high at the moment and the cost of owning the car over the last two years have been minimal, is it time to move on or just leave it sat in the Garage?

No worries keep it, and i'll drive it around when your not using it... you know just to help you out

I'm in exactly the same position. C63 in the garage and running about in an Astra estate company car. Even if I don't drive it a lot it's just nice to know you can if you want. Keep it!

Im of the opinion, if it sells it sells, if not i will keep it... I have had interest, but mainly from traders, so we will see...

Locking in garages, not putting miles on, then getting rid because of lack of use... how could you guys be so disloyal to the biggest, baddest and bestest AMG engine ever made?

Jealous.

Sell up. Every M156 owner does it. ;)
4 years to date and another 19 before it becomes a Classic meaning a grand total of 34,371 euro (or £30,150 at present exchange rate) in road tax due between now and then so I am not sure of what the end result will be. But, what a car, so... Not yet. Not yet. :)

Will prob be selling mine soon
Too much money tied up in a car that does maybe 1000 miles max a year
Its only got 6k on clock and had 5 when i bought it 2 years ago
