Seriously though, a truly heart-warming account and wonderful to read. It's even better than the pleasure we get from stopping to let a vehicle from the opposite direction through a restricted space, then the driver smiles and waves thank you. Little things that can mean so much.
 
Something not dissimilar:

I was in a checkout queue with a trolley crammed full of stuff - absolutely heaving.

A short while later, just before I was due to be next to load up onto the conveyer belt, a beautiful young lady came up behind me with a basket with only two items in it.

I turned round to her and said "Have you only got two items to check out?"

"Yes, actually that is all" she replied.

"Well, best shove off to another queue then, 'cos I am going to be ages with all this lot."
