Have a look at the Deering Arms near Pluckley Station if you're after gourmet food and wine - they may also do accomodation, not sure. Food is excellent, wine list extensive and carefully chosen, good bitter as well. Monthly classic car meet 2nd Sunday (1st Sunday it's The Bell at Smarden, food there looked good the sunday we stopped there for a pint - Shephard Neame pub).

In Rye High Street is a small reataurant called Ambrette, looks small from outside but is deceptice, interesting and very good food. They're also in Canterbury and Margate, which got an excellent write-up by Tom Parker Bowles in the Mail a few weeks ago.
