Kerb and Alloy Wheel Met!!!

After 4 Weeks and 3 Days I managed to Kerb my Nearside Front! :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::oops::mad::mad::mad::doh::dk:

Trying to park as far as possible away from everybody else in Wickes Car Park I didn't notice a weird shaped Kerb and just nudged it and although was praying to the "It will only be the Tyre God" there is a scrape about 3 Inches long! :wallbash:

Swear words were to be heard from far and yonder, now I need to decide if a re-furb or new wheel will fix it!:(:oops:

Took the car to The Wheel Specialist in Leicester yesterday, it was in their Shop, by 08:02, coffee was served, Wheel Stripped, Cleaned, Diamond Cut, Painted, Baked, C5 Sealant Applied and back on the Car by 14:00!:rock::thumb:

I must say I was impressed!

That's pretty good. Out of interest, how much did they charge per wheel?

I'll keep my eyes out for you. No doubt you'll be the only person driving and parking in the middle of the road for a while ;)

i'd have waited and collect more scars on the road before going refurb :D

Well done John. Glad it's sorted. Really annoying when it happens.

Completely off topic, but might be of interest...
J is the width of the rim, in inches.

Did you know "J" is the type of the tyre edge profile?
I only found this out recently as I could never understand why J referred to the width of the wheel. The number is the width in inches, but J references the profile of where the tyre meets the rim. It's known as the "wheel collar profile". J is not the shape, just the reference letter. It's unlikely we will come across something not J in normal car motoring, with the possible exception of JJ. Here's the list for your entertainment. :D

A Bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, scooters, vans, lorries, forklifts
B Old wheels up to 6" wide, sometimes found on the old VW Beetle
D Bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, scooters, vans, lorries, forklifts
E Lorries, vans, tractors (front wheel drive) with "semi-drop" wheels (see below)
F Vans, lorries, forklifts with "semi-drop" wheels
G, H Vans, lorries with "semi-drop" wheels
J Passenger cars
JJ 4x4 SUVs
P, K Found sometimes in older cars such as VW Beetle, Jaguar
S Commercial vehicles with "flatbase" wheels (see below)
T, V Commercial vehicles with "flatbase" wheels
W Agricultural tractors, mainly on the rear axle

Based on the recommendations on this thread, I just asked for a quote from The Wheel Specialist (4 x diamond cut) and got a quote for £720... ludicrous...

FYI it's the 'Platinum service' (same day): "For 10% less than the price quoted choose the Gold Service* - This gives you the same great quality finish but there is a 3 day turn around. For 20% less than the quoted price, opt for the Silver service* - drop off your loose wheels on a three day turn around. "

So that would be £572 if you take them the wheels off the car and there's a three day turnaround.

I'd rather just have scuffed wheels!
