Hi everyone

Today i had a call from a guy i no who owns a clk220 cdi 2007, He accidently washed his key a few weeks ago and never tried to dry it out. He has had enough and dont want the car any more he said as long as i can collect it this weekend i car have the car for free 😁. Just got it back home but where do i go from here obviously the ignition lights dont come on and it wont start but what do i need to do to get the car running. Its a clean car and i am only the second owner its just hit 100,000 miles and the bodywork and interior is super clean im hoping its not a mega cost to get it running again and i get to drive the car soon 👍

TIA

The spare key?

Get another key from the main dealer if the previous owner doesn`t have the spare.

You could try opening the key and replacing the battery , a bit of a long shot but for £2 it maybe worth a go.

This is odd, becauae the bit inside the fob that starts the engine is separate to the remote lock/unlock and alarm on/off functionality, it's an NFC-type chip that doesn't require power and shouldn't be affected by water, in short the car should start with the key... unless the car is immobilised because opening the door using the emergency key blade triggered the alarm?
