Is this clever flat key something extra I need to order, or should I expect one when I pickup my E in a few weeks, would you know?

There appears to be no flat keys for the W211, although my catalogue is only valid up to mid 2004.

The workshop EPC at the stealership parts dept will have any additional information.

The guy I bought my W208 CLK (01Y) off said that the car did NOT come with an emergency flat key either. Anyone know this for sure?

I believe that's right. I've had my 02 W208 from new; it came with two identical "normal" keys, and no emergency key.

The normal keys have three buttons: lock, unlock & boot release, and the lock/unlock also controls the windows, via infra-red, when held down. They have a removable metal piece, not used for normal operation, which I've assumed will unlock the doors but not operate the ignition (having no electronics).

W208 clk also has optional emergency key.

It looks like any car with the new style keys can have an emergency (electronic) key to go with it.

I was told that the key wasn't available for my current car, but my previous car (same age and model) had one, so good luck
