Key noise

Hi just purchased a 2015 C220d sport. When I first put the key in, it makes a noise, for about 5/6 seconds ish. It sounds a bit like - tut tut tut (etc), then goes silent, is this a selfcheck or should I be worried? Not had a diesel Merc before. Thanks

Sounds like the electronic steering lock is dying.
I would get it checked before it breaks and locks the column.
