I have the original 2 keys for the car. One works fine and does everything it should. The other locks and unlocks the car, opens/closes the roof, pops the trunk but does diddly squat in the ignition. No clunky, whirry noise, nothing, not a sausage and of course it won't turn. Both blades lock and unlock everything they should too.

Thoughts? It's the all black plastic 3-button fob.

How do you know ?
It is easy to code a replacement key for the lock/unlock functions, but expensive, impossible to code the transponder in the key to the car for the ignition.
Have you had the car long ?
Can you go back to the seller ?

Most likely the little coil inside the key fob has a broken or dry solder joint. This can be easily repaired if the solder join is cracked due to the key being dropped.
