Hey guys,

My car is causing me problems again.

I press the keyfob, and the doors unlock, but the indicators don't flash and if I open the door the alarm doesn't sound, but I can't start the car.

If I relock it, it locks but the indicators don't flash to show that it has armed the alarm.

When I get in and try to start the car the green light just flashes for a long time on the mirror.

I have a C180, 1995.

It has the led's on the drivers side handle.

Any advice appriciated, else the stealership is gonna have a good old xmas!

i had this on my merc too, it was some component on the alarm sensor, mine was in the rear view mirror! find out how much stealership charges, if its a lot then give @prestige car specialists@ a ring on 07831348015, it will involve a trip to east london, but it may save you a few quid!

hope that helps

Thanks for the advice Alps.

I'll let you know how I get on this week.

Cheers!

I had a problem similar to this, I needed 2 new Keyfobs, £62 each!!!

I've just bought a rear view mirror with sensor for my 1996 S280, as I've been having a similar problem. It cost £78 + VAT, but I've not fitted it yet, as it looks like a problem with the ignition switch after all.

Alarm Woes

Hi Guys,
I've got exactly the same problem as Abbos with my '95 C230 Kompressor, except its a bit more intermitant. I've only had the car 7 days and three times is left me in embarassing situations, when I couldn't disarm the alarm/immobiliser, and in one case an old lady walking by accused me of trying to steal my own car!
It all seemed to start going wrong when I changed the batteries in the key fob, so I'm guessing the problem lies with the key and not the system. Only problem is my "stealership" won't let me order new keys untill my name is on the V5, even after pleading with them on Wednesday, they said it was MB's rules that the person ordering the key, had to be the registered keeper of the car, even though I had the V5, the MOT certs, my passport, my driver's licence, the car's service history and the car. The car then promptly refused to start in front of the parts department, and the swines just ignored me.
Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks,
Mark.
