Thats the facelift key hole/ ignition barrel, all W202s have this after 1997 and still used up to this day on Mercs.

You still have a key, except it doesnt have a blade and just slots in. - acts as an imobiliser

You cant retrofit it, as the complete system has to be changed.

93-94 - Standard plain W201 style key

94-96 - Flip key/red and green LEDs on the RVM*

97-00 This immobiliser 'key'



*My brothers 2003 Audi A8 (current shape) still used a Flip key, how lame is that?

i think the cut off date is 98, since mine is a 98 and it still have the flip key!
