Hi there all, heres my problems on my C36 AMG:

First gear does not rev to red line anymore (whilst in drive). But 2nd gear onwards revs to red line.

However if I start off from gear 2, first gear revs to the red line??

Any ideas what that could be??

Also, my kick down button does not work properly, it doesn't seem to bring the revs up any more, instead it just lazily picks up speed. Do you think these two problems can be connected?

I have just changed the MAF meter, (due to other problems the car had), also my wiring loom is disintegrating, so do you think that could have anything to do with the problems, otherwise the car dribves lovely.

Any ideas will be much appreciated!

Also may be the MAF you replaced.... is it MB or non oem?

I had the same problem on my w202 - I replaced the kickdown switch and all seems to be ok now

Difficult some times as the auto gearbox is married to the output of the engine, though an engine can rev quite happily in N the output under load is something else where there is not enough power to operate the torque converter. In a manual car its easy to detect low output from the engine

Sounds like this sort of a problem is a bit of a pain in the butt to diagnose. I don't think plugging in and getting codes will show anything apart from possibly a MAF problem.

The other option I guess is either test the simple components like the kickdown switch or start replacing stuff.....thats the more expensive option as you could be easily replacing working components.
