Kleeman cls - good car?

Kleeman have a very good reputation tuning mercedes cars.
My only concern would be getting insurance and wear and tear on engine parts with a modified car. It looks good value and its alot of car for the money.

hi

olny way to get 620bhp is to have the following

Kleemans Cams
Kleemans 80mm TB
Kleeman Pulley 168mm
Kleeman Headers
Kleeman LSD or AMG
Remap

Ring them and ask them if it has any of these items?>>?
Or i can give you Steens number he is Kleeman UK REP.

Apart from all that its looks VERY nice.
Car is worth about £35,000 in my opinion

Thanks

acid

I think that's one of the nicest looking mods I've seen - agree with acid however, insurance would be my primary concern.

Great looking car. As soon as I saw the picture I thought how cool if one could loose the door handles.

Super smooth look :)

Nice car and very tempting too. Worth the money, but I agree on the insurance query.

Get an insurance quote, try a specialist insurer. It should be fine with these mods, cant remember who (scortcher) had over 600bhp for a 211 55. Its so descrete and yet so powerful, you should buy it.

Love it.. looks really nice, I've seen this car on AT for the last 2 months now..

620bhp sounds like too much power, more power than a twin turbo V12 65.

What's the torque figures?

Lovely car and I bet silly quick. However it is simply too much money for a 4 year old car, out of warranty and heavily modded.:(
Oh! and the interior is a bit dark!

I spoke to the person who built this, kleemann have been around for many years and if you look into Kleemann's history you will see that they only "tune" Mercedes, they know the product inside out.

K4 consists of,

168mm crank shaft pulley
Tubular Exhaust manifold
Cams
80mm TB
Software

The above is nearly 10k + fitting.

This car also runs a custom supercharger cooling system, 2k +.

In regards to reliability, these engines are capable of allot of HP, in the US, allot of these engines run over 600hp and some have done so for over 100k miles with zero failures.

I agree with Acid, it is over priced, Owner is clearly attempting to get most of his money back for the upgrades, I would pay 35k or just over if it has MB warranty.

I seriously considered this car before before i settled on mine,it is spot on and fully tuned, but the everyday running costs would be horrendous ,12mpg maybe 16 on a run, could you imagine your local merc garage servicing it,the insurance and tax would be the least of any worries, but if monies applenty then what a car!

This car is featured in a pretty comprehensive article in this months Performance Car magazine - they're doing a feature on Kleeman tuned AMG's and this is the car they've written about. By all accounts, they are very impressed with it.

The person who currently owns this car is apparently the owner of Car Planet Ltd who are the UK's northern approved Kleeman distributor.

Stunning bit of kit but as others have said way to much money IMO

Makes me feel my car from Scrotcher was an absolute steel, my 600bhp is not to much power, okay you can't use the power in the wet, not even on a cold dry day on some tarmac, but when you can it's just awesome.
I have seen the car first hand, I went to see them as Steen told me they were the north west Kleemann dealer and they new there stuff, the car sounds simply stunning, the race exhaust middle section with race cats made me dribble, can't comment on price as I don't know what a 4 year old 25k mile cls55 is worth but the car is mint in everyway!

Hello,

I have been reading this forum for a long time.

I had been planning to buy a CLS55 for a long time then modding to 600ish bhp, lowerring it, carbon lip like "dvd247's" and a set of alloy wheels.
If I started off with a low mileage CLS let say high 28-29k plus the power upgrades from Kleemann or Evosport or Renntech10k plus the electronic lowering kit 1K plus a set of wheels 1K plus other cosmetics, cooling kit, LSD and others, I had bugetted for 40k to 45k to complete what I wanted. Do you guys think this car is a good starting point?

Should I stick with Kleemann since they are in UK or should I use Evosport or Renntech? Any inputs will be appreciated.

I am very interested in the CLS advertised by this company Car Planet.

Do any memeber here knows them? Any dealing with them? good or bad pls..
Are they really specialist at MB?

I live down at Southampton so its along way for me to travel to see this car. It will really help if you guys can give me some info. From the other posts "dvd247" and other memebers, had you seen this car in real life?
Whats the condition like? It looks amazing from the pictures and in good condition.
Was the mods done by this company? Are they good?

Sorry for all the questions guys. :)

Thanks in advance

John

IMO a modded car is worth no more than a standard car (mods will put most people off so you seriously reduce the amount of protential buyers) .....unless you want the exact mods that have been done to the car or they are highly sort after which IMO these are not. Get a low miles CLS55 and get a Kleemann K1 ECU and pully or just a re map like Ive had done to my E55, plenty fast enougth IMO and will save you flushing thousands of pounds spent on mods down the toilet that you proberbly wont see again + will put your insurance through the roof etc....but hey its your money

Bishy,

Thanks for your advise.

But I wanted a 600bhp+ 600 ft/lbs torque car. I used to drive a SL65 that was remapped - that was a quick car. I lost alot of money when I sold it. I had it from new.
Just seems like a cheap way to get 600bhp/600 torque with the 55AMG and hopefully still good reliablilty. Most 55AMG seems to have big options = comfort and lots of toys, to me its value for money either to built one from standard or to buy an alreadly built car. I never thought I could buy an existing built car. Tuning AMG doesn't seem a big thing in UK. When I visit the States (mainly LA), I always see well modded AMGs for sale everywhere.

I am more concern, how good is this car? Was it built by someone reputable?

I used DMS when I had my SL, my opinion with them are "I won't used them again". This just my opinion.

My insurance quote on a K4 modded CLS wasn't that bad, within £1000.00

It cost me more to insure my old Evo9 FQ360.

Any more advise . . . .

Bishy, what mods on a 55k do you consider "sort after"?

John, if you want 600+ bhp, you have a great opportunity here to get the car you want at a huge discount, I cannot comment on the condition of the car, however I have spoken to the person that owns it and he comes across as a genuine person and a true enthusiast.

If you are serious about wanting a car like this, go and see it, at that mileage it should be very good, its been up for sale for a while so you should be able to get money off.

One thing, if it does not have warranty, get a good one, just in case..:thumb:

Let me know if you get it, you can come and play with us in the summer!:D

Good luck

Paul

my point is tha not everyone wants or can afford 10-15k's worth of mods or wants a car that has been heavly modified, me included

If you has money to burn then fair enougt but a complete waste of money IMO....spent the money on something faster in the first place

But if you can afford it the why not :-)
