Since having the rear subframe replaced (not by Mercedes) I've had a knocking sound coming from the rear somewhere. It seems to be prop/diff related as it occurs at the point you go on/off throttle. However, there is no play in the prop or donut. There is, however, noise coming from the two drive-shafts, specifically at the point they 'attach' to the diff. Tried to make a couple of videos (below), but not much room under the car for clarity and light. Should they move in/out like this?

Thanks,

Looks like the snap rings, were either not replaced, or not fitted at all.

Talk about mis-diagnosis! Turns out the knocking wasn't from the rear at all, it just seemed that way as I was travelling (maybe?). Anyway, front anti-roll bar drop-links both had seen better days so I replaced them, just as a matter of course. Haven't heard the 'rear knocking' noise since. Weird.

Has the 'donut' been fitted correctly ? IE: the 'thick' part of the rubber in the correct position on the diff ?

Fast forwards to 6 minutes and matey here will show you what I mean , it's an easy mistake to make.
