Lack of power

Hi..I'm 0zzy1953..I'm a new member so be gentle with me.
Noticed a lack of power a few weeks ago so had my ML 270 serviced with a mate of mine. He did it..said everything was fine engine wise and that I had a problem with auto box no kickdown. He admitted he was no auto expert. I disagree with him and just think its something simple (he said hopefully). Reading threads on here I think I need to get it on Star. Anyone know of an MB mechanic near Leicester? Dont want to pay stealer prices. Yours hopefully..Chris
