Today in parliament they debate Lads Mags. Not their right to exist but the need to sell them to anyone over the age of eight at child height in shops. The question is therefore should they be moved out of reach.

I wanted to site examples of why I think they should be an over 18 product and out of reach of children but if I posted Maxims Rotten Corpse photos, or Zoo magazines guide to porn article I would be banned from this forum or least have the thread banned.

I rest my case, if its not suitable for here why would it be suitable for our kids to see.

A simple vote
Leave them as they are now.
Put them out of reach of children
Ban them altogether for being gross

You can find similar content in some newspapers, if not worse. Move the mags, move the papers too!

That is the main reason that it's unlikely anything will happen.

Lad Mags are for people who dont get any "action"... :D

I could not care less what they do as never had the urge to buy them...

Interestingly the MP bringing the motion, was reported for posting obsenities because she sent every MP a copy of the Daily Sport I think it was. She was also told that if she posted Zoo Magazines Porn guide she would be suspended from parliament for week.

Self regulation of the industry has worked well then.

Lads' Mags are just pointless comics. If you're a grown-up, then read a real f**king book. If you're not a grown-up then you should be doing your homework or something useful!

Most lad's mags have the same tired format:

Interview with some gangster or other hard case.
Interview with popular female and some pics
Guide to something or other like places to drink etc
possibly some kind of gadget or car review
back 50% is adverts and stupidly expensive designer clothes
final couple of pages is comedy matchbox-sized mucky ads

Pretty boring really.

I havent got too much of problem with the lads bit, its when in degenerates into filth and squalor- why would anybody ley anybodies kids see for instance delaying corpses??

I used to read FHM, my dad got me a subscription a few years ago. They're all basically the same.

I don't think I would want a young child to see the content, a teenager why not, probably best in the long run!

Do 8 years olds really go and buy these? I doubt it.

I think the reference is that kids can pick them up in Sainsburys. I wouldnt want to think my nieces and nephews could see some of the content at their very young age. The problem is that the Magazines were given an inch and took a mile and then dared each other to nick the next mile as well.

Most of them appear to be in sealed foil wrappers nowadays ....

Its like a lot of things nowadays, kids are growing up waaaaaaaaaay to quick.

I remember playing with my die cast cars in sand when i was 12.. playing army in the meadows nearby and still having a paper round when i was in college!

Kids nowadays are lining up outside the local clubs!! WTF! Its a horrible sight when you see 12 or 13 year old girls dressed like older women and lads of around 16-19 in thier cars waiting outside...

You wonder why there is a problem with peodophilia at the moment.. it must be a haven for the scum given that we practically aid them through letting our children read magazines like the above which only encourages kids because it makes them want to be older now instead of tomorrow.

Sealed for freshness ? I think they ALL should be.
A couple of years ago I was in the village shop with my daughter,(then 9 or 10)
who asked my why the women on those magazines didn't have any clothes on.
I replied they must be silly 'cos it was very cold at the time.
