Got a new problem cropped up.....!

I was sat the traffic lights and realised I was in the wrong lane. When the lights changed to green I floored it to get into the correct lane. I then slowed to a normal driving speed.

Now the problem -

when I press the accelerator, the car doesnt respond until the revs hit 20 on the dial (I presumes this is 2000rpm?). It doesnt matter what gear I'm in, it doesnt respond until the revs go up.

Its as if theres a time lag between the accelarator cable and the engine/gearbox.

Does this make sense?....I'll try and explain it better if it doesnt.

It could be a number of things.

It maybe the gearbox slipping so get the level checked. It could also be a dodgy air mass sensor. Get it on a Star first.

Thanks for the quick reply Black55,

I've just had the oil changed in the gearbox a couple of weeks ago - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/90782-gearbox-problem-w208-clk.html

What is the air mass sensor and what does it do?

I had it serviced a couple of months ago at the same garage (under 1500 miles ago) should they have checked the air mass sensor at service?

driving it in w mode would force it to run in 2nd gear in initial pick.
