Lane Package experience on W212

Well it happened today.

Speeding onto motorway from slip road.

Indicated and was going to drive straight into middle lane.

Suddenly beep beep beep.

I immediately recognised it as the lane warning.

At the last minute I stayed on the inside lane instead of going into the middle lane.

Thought the system was faulty for a millisecond before lo and behold a white van popped out of my blind spot.

Phew. And I would never had ordered it on my car. It happened to be there on the car in the dealer and we did a deal.

I think this new E has a big blind spot.

Depends how you set the mirrors up. On the RHS if you set it so as little of your own car is visible as possible it will pan out further and give a wider view and less blind spot....

Did you not look over your shoulder as well as using mirrors?

I find the Blind Spot Assist quite good, but it can be annoying on roundabouts, where I have to indicate off while another car is in my blind spot, so frequently set it off.

Lane Warning is good, but the vibrate is not strong enough and goes unnoticed sometimes.

I would not have ordered either, but wanted the Distronic+ and they came as part of the package.

Would definitely get them again.
