I heard it's tacky as hell, but with a few friends, I hope we don't end up like the film "the Hangover"...

Yup, great place, you can see everything you need to in 5 days or so then it gets a bit samey.
Things to do:-
Grand Canyon in a helicopter - don't book via a hotel, go online and book with Papillon helicopters.
Visit the Hoover Dam, it really is some structure.
Watch the Fountains in front of the Bellagio in the evening. If you get a chance, ride up the Eifell tower at the Paris LV and watch from there - it's something.
Don't stay downtown, it's a toilet. If you go downtown to see the Freemont Street experience, keep hold of your wallet and don't wander of the tourist tracks.
Ceasers Palace is about mid strip and you can see everything you want to from there.
There's a Tommy Bahama's restaurant out of the North end of the strip in the shopping area - eat there at least once and order the Pina Colada cake - it's outstanding.
For shopping there are the Premium Outlets at the South end of the strip.
Shops in the Venetian are good and the Forum Shops next to Ceasers have every possible label you could wish for.
Any animal lovers in the party? A day at the Mirage will be fun.
The monorail is a good way to get up and down the strip if you're not renting a car as are the buses. Don't get cabs, there's no need and they are silly expensive.
Nice hotels:-
Bellagio
Wynn
Encore
Ceasers
Paris LV
Venetian
Have fun and remember there's only one winner in a casino! Unless you're a poker player of course.
