I think i may have spotted the very last registered W202 (C Class)

I've seen it twice now in Greenford, NW London, and its silver RHD but on a 52 plate!

Surely thats like a year and a half after the new model came onto the market!

Any idea what thats all about?

I've seen a couple of 'Y' plate ones which I thought was late, not noticed a 51 or 52 plate that I can think of?

Saw a pre-facelift W202 on a 'T' plate today (1999?), obvious import as it had a different boot lid for the square number plate.

Think I have seen 'M' registered 190Es before, as well as a 'P' registered 190E Evolution.

Are you sure its not somthing like A352 AMG - not 2 letters like AB 51 AMG?

That said, there is a w124 with a V plate thats a taxi here.

it actually has larger than usual lettering on the number plate, and when i saw it first, about 3 weeks ago i thought my eyes were deceiving me.. but then i saw it again yesterday and before i could grab my camera/ phone it was gone.

I thought it might be an import... perhaps it is!

I remember there were a load of W124's that arrived in the UK after production stopped. Those I was told at the time, were built in India. From what i remember, they were manual only and spec levels weren't that great. Having said that, a friend in the motor trade told me they were quite a bargain :)

If you see it again, grab the number & we can check on RAC site

Will keep a lookout.

Nice find Karl.

The youngest I have ever seen/previously thought existed was a W reg.

I remember those... Trade Sales in slough were selling a lot of them IIRC, and my semi photographic memory tells me they were all E220s. They would have been on a V or W plate at the time

Re Trade Sales and their W124's....I also heard that they were Indian made. I've seen a few for sale recently on T-W reg's and even seen saw one on an X Reg about 5 days ago

They also came with Autos and Air, but as you say the vast majority were 220's, although I've also seen a couple of 250 diesels.

Cheers

Vlad

Mine is a W Reg.

That could possibly make yours one of the last C43's on the W202!

Mines a 'V' plate, though I've seen 'X' reg W202s for sale, was very tempted with an 'X' C220 CDI estate with 'tip, but couldn't afford it at the time.

Is 'W' the last of the C43s then? Or did some make it on to an 'X' or 'Y' plate?

Laz.

Perhaps someone has modded their W203 to look like a W202 ;) :p

S.

Er ... Why would anyone mod their car to make it look OLDER ??

I reckon its an orphan import. I don't think MB would let an old model hang around the network that long.

Or maybe someone has cloned the number plate from another car to avoid fines !!

Imports are still given the reg dependent on the date of manufacture/1st reg of country of import rather than when it entered the UK aren't they?

Er, yes I think you're right. And if the age isn't known it gets a Q-plate. Maybe it was a late-build import?

IIRC a lot of the W202s were South African built. Maybe they continued to produce them their for a bit after the W203 was introduced.
