Hi all,
I am about to take my car for it's 3rd Year A service, it was registered Jan 2016 so warranty is about to expire and MOT becoming due, it has only covered 15000mls.

The sat nav has never been updated so I would like to get this done at the same time if possible, I would like to ask if anybody knows the latest Command version/release date so I can most benefit from the free update period before it expires.

I have also received the recall notice for the airbag issue which says that any "outstanding technical upgrades" will also be completed. Is there anything I should be aware of ? I have read reports of Audi owners having had their cars "updated" without their consent, relating to the emmisions cheating issues which has had significant effects on the driving performance.

As this is likely the last time I will use the "Main Dealer" for servicing, is there anything I should be getting done/checked whilst I still have a few weeks warranty left, and is it better/cheaper that I top up the Adblue myself prior to service.

Thank for any replies in advance.

The latest NTG5*2 (C class) was released a few days ago. It is "2019 V13.0".

Have the COMAND firmware updated (you may have to make up a reason for this, such as it occasionally hangs up for a few seconds) - and have the latest map installed - if they don't have the latest map, they may only have 2018 V12, then get them to install that. *BUT* make sure they also get you the map licence PIN code for the new one or you'll have to pay for it after car is 3 years old..

They should give you a piece of paper with the map licence key on it

They were meant to update the map every service, but many didn't bother if the customer didn't ask as it uses a workshop bay for a while and Mercedes don't pay them a lot to do it.

Cheers
Richard

Many Thanks for the advice.
When you say "occasionally hangs" are you referring specifically about the sat nav and it locking up/freezing, would this be an excuse to get the firmware updated, or the complete system ? I would like to a rock solid reason / right expression to avoid them reason to decline my request.
As the warranty is coming to an end I want to get any niggles sorted out under warranty, unfortunately a couple of issues seem to have resolved themselves prior to going in to the dealership (eg LED Light in door handle has suddenly started to work again after nearly 12mths of being out, I just know it will fail after warranty expires and also the handle locking mechanism for the boot floor cover which seems to have something loose inside which has caused the latch to become detached and "floppy" and in turn makes it that you cannot lift the panel up because it locks down) But in all honesty I have only covered approx 3000mls this year and 1k of that was on a 2 week holiday which I would not have normally used my car for, so I have not really been in a position to notice any issues, as such I would welcome any specific areas to check that are known issues or prone to failure.
Regards
