OK, so as you know I have a "reputation" after turning up at a GTG on a low loader with a very damaged car.

So I've had a recent claim.

And yes I have a "less than clean" license (only 3 points left)

And yes, I live in HU7. Hull.

So, last year my insurance was about a grand with full no claims and 3 points.

Would anyone like to guess the renewal after another 6 points and a claim, and anyone like to suggest a good broker???

Is your insurance classed as for business use?

Oh and your renewal will be about £3k at a guess.

I shudder to think of a price, so wont.

Brokers? All as bad as each other I guess.

Edit.

Blimey sweetpea. I thought my 2.5K muse was nuts so left it off.

It would have been nearer £2k then I remembered Tim lives in Hull. :thumb:

The best I can do is offer the phone number for The SAMARITANS 08457 90 90 90 which probably won't be much different to you renewal premium.

Good luck. :)

Answer to both questions above..

A lot MORE TH>N. ;)

just try the comparison website and fiddle around with it to get the quote down.

Ah,I see you live in Hull, mmmmm, You could try a move to somewhere quieter???

Somalia perhaps?:D

Well the renewal was just over 2300, and went up when I rang to see if they could do anything with it.

Spent the last few hours on the "comparison" sites and got it down to 1098 with a 850 quid excess - not too bad I suppose.

:(Bloody hell...How old are you? I only ask as there are several sites for folks over 50. Also a low mileage helps, do you use it to go to work? could you register it as your Mothers,sister,brothers.........car and be a named driver? 2.5k, I say again. Bloody hell.:(:(

I think maybe you need to use the crusie control a lot more. :)

Save fuel and save your licence. Even more so if your car is used for your work.

£1100 still sounds a lot for a diesal C class?

Guess you have little choice though. All I could recomend are the specialist type ones Adrian Flux etc (maybe even buy a copy of max power or similar if still out and look at the back)

If you have a policy with Aviva (mortgage/endowment/critical illness etc) it's worth ringing them for a quote.
Mercedes insurance quoted me £1200 for a new C220. I got two cars (the C220 and a BMW X3) insured for just over £900 with Aviva. That includes business use on the Merc and an introductory no claims bonus on the BMW (as wife has zero no claims). Aviva will give a quote and then incorporate a further discount if you give them your policy number (upto another 15% off).

There is a wallet/throttle pedal correlation here.

It's obvious that Tim carries his wallet on his right shoe. Following this renewal, it will become very noticeably lighter, thus the weight on the throttle pedal will ease considerably, and much slower driving will ensue.

That is, until the premiums come back down and the weight of the wallet increases again...

Failing that, one of these?

dont know the value of your vehicle but I just signed up with SAGA as they came up with a quote of £262 for my old 1996 220d with 10 yrs no claims , and im an old fart 56 lol,( AA renewal was .............. £1016 :eek:" it was £410 last year, how the hell do they get a figure like that, cars only valued at £1k ") never claimed, no points, convictions etc,but i'm waffleing I have a 96 saab convertable only used for trips to spain but it was expensive with the aa cos they dont do 2 cars/1 driver, saga are mirroring the ncb on the saab so just shy of £600 for both, best quote ive had so far but may stick saab on spanish plates and leave it there cos insurance is cheaper out there lol... worth a call though:thumb::thumb:.

After extensive ringing around and comparing I ended up with swiftcover. Excess is 500 (no bit deal these days, if the cashflow is tight there's always plastic) but it's under 1200 quid.

Mercedes quoted over 5k....
