10 years - I was told 50,000 hours and looking at Panasonic website they are now saying 60,000 hours.

Assuming 8 hours a day 365 days of the year thats around 20 years.....

I think that within 10 years I will be wanting to change anyway...:bannana:

. He also said that plasma has a max life expectancy of 10 years as the plasma drops towards the bottom of the screen over time.

Well he must know what he's talking about...

... pause ...

... NOT.

I would go for the 52" Sony Bravia LCD but I would say that as I have the next one down 46" amazing picture.
On the Plasma side Panasonic and Samsung are OK but Pioneer is by far the best and you will pay LCD money for one.

I have a Sony 46" Bravia LCD and its fantastic. I'd go for LCD everytime.

I have a friend who works for a well known electrical retailer and when i wanted to buy a plasma tv he advised against as the new LCD tv's have cured the problem of poor picture ie unless you view from directly in front of the screen. He also said that plasma has a max life expectancy of 10 years as the plasma drops towards the bottom of the screen over time. After saying all this it would be nice if other home electrical goods lasted more than 5 years in my house.

Currys 55% chance, Comet 45% chance?

Mike
