Hi all,
I am going to change cars in the next month or two, just wondering if it’s best to buy or lease. Does anyone here lease their car or know anything about it? Only just started to think about it so haven't really looked into it yet. Just wondered what happens with services and does it cost more on your insurance??

Hmmm is this another of these threads?

which will soon be answered by a helpful guy recommending his own company.

If not, I apologise for my scepticism and only offer my personal experience that it is swings and roundabout cost-wise and on the couple of occassions I've leased a car I have found it to be a good experience but would recommend that you make sure you don't tie yourself in to too long a term if you like chopping and changing.

Andrew welcome to the forum,

This is an often discussed topic and from my experience ts all down to the deal you can find with the leasing companies.

I have tried all kinds of options, buy, personal contract hire, company contract hire, lease purchase . I'm still not sure which is best from a tax point of view. But I have settled for company contract hire for my Chysler 300c because I got a good deal and only 12 months term and I bought my Aston. Previously I got a cracking 12 month contract hire deal on a Mercedes SL 350 only 500/month(+vat) for a brand new £60k+ car.

Insurance was no different whether its a bought or leased car.

hope this helps.

I figure buying is probably cheaper as there is only one guy on your back wanting to make a buck - that is to say the seller of the car. Whereas leased cars have several wanting to make their own little piece of the action.
Leasing usually SEEMS cheaper, which in my experience usually means it isnt.
Buying with your own money always works out the best option.

BTW...................Welcome ! ! ! ! ! ! !

And importantly gives total flexibility as to when next to change.

If I'd leased my car I would've had to change it at least twice now.

A collegue wasn't allowed to extend the lease on his BMW when waiting for a new car so had to buy another BMW to tie up the dates.

yes, apologies.:o Remiss of me, I have edited my original post to include the line I intended to at the time.

It's just so very similar to the other threads highlighted.

Welcome Andrew...

My view, depends on whats cheapest thats it, with the 1 proviso that I must have a way out that doesn't cost too much should I need it, should I lose my job for example.

Last time I looked at it I worked out cost of ownership over 3 years and ended up with a loan to buy..

if your going to change your car every 1 to 2 years then i would say leasing is the way

Hi, I think that car leasing is better than car buying because it has lots of benefits. I hired two cars from http://www.frontierleasing.co.uk/ and I am getting very service without any problem. You can find so many car leasing website on the net but its one best for car hiring among of them.
Hope this will help you out!
All the best!

Spin Bowler -- spot on matey...... another scammer?

I thought so, but was probably right to be ticked off for being so unwelcoming. Given he's not been back to comment I am still reserving the right to say 'I told you so':)
