Hey guys i'm looking for a leather interior for my W202 and have notice they are few and far between so i was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to whether or not i can fit an interior out of a completely different car and if so what needs to be done in order to do this?

Thanks.

Finding a leather interior for a W202 would be easier than getting an audience with the pope (as i'm sure you've already realised). I've been looking for a black one for my 202 for the best part of 4 years and come up empty everytime besides ringing almost every breakers yard in the country.

I don't think you'll find one from a different model that will fit but Mercedes Enthusiast magazine does have an ad in it for a re-trimmer who will recover your own seats to whatever spec you want. Although it is bloody expensive.

Thanks for that. where is the best place to get the magazine from, any ideas? Its all pretty new to me.

WH Smith sells it.... or online (google for it).

it will be hard to replace the whole interior with one from a complete different car. dont bother. Front seats, possibly - the rest - forget it.

Everytime i've asked a german e-bayer if they'll ship to the uk they've always turned me down. Killahertz found me a C43 kit on E-Bay.de and no matter what I offered the guy he wouldn't ship to the uk :(

WHSmiths for Mercedes Enthusiast. It's a damn good read and besides covering all the latest toys coming onto the market they do some cracking articles on older 'classic' mercs.

Arrange to have it picked up yourself by interparcel.

They do come up now and again on ebay but you have to keep a look out. The other options are to approach specialist breakers like dronsfields, but be aware the seats will be extremely dirty and will need thorough cleaning. However they will be much cheaper than getting a retrim. It really depends on whether you want it to look unique or you just prefer a leather interior.

I was lucky in that I got mine off a fellow member who lived relatively close too so I could pick it up.

Gumtree is a free online classifieds and community websites. There is one for each city eg. London, Liverpool and Glasgow etc.

Suggest that you get the seat pad replaced on the driver's seat at least on these seats and they become seriously uncomfortable as they are notorious for sagging. £79 purchase price from MB.

Is that problem the same with electric seats also?

If you are talking about the sagging of the seat, yep, its the same on all w202 driver's seats, hence the reason as to why they become soo uncomfortable.

Ive just replaced the pad on my driver's seat myself. Bought it for £70 from MB.

It is a two man operation to remove the leather cover from the frame, as you need to compress the cushion down in order to release it from the channel that secures it to the base.

When you get the thing apart, its actually quite shocking as to the lack of padding between your backside and the springs !!!

If I had given this job to an upholsterer, I would have definitely told them to add additional padding to make the seat more comfortable.

Getting the cover back on was again a two man operation and really hard work !!!
