LED Code Diagnosis for W124 102 Engine 1989

I have a W124 with 102 engine(230TE) of 1989 from UK.

It has a 8 pin Diagnosis socket on the left wheel arc(engine bay) - X11. Can a diagnosis be done using this X11 socket?

Diagnosis is limited partly because there is so little electronics to monitor. This article deals with the 6 cylinder US models AND MAY NOT APPLY TO YOUR MODEL but gives you an idea. http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/EngineControls Any routine good engine analyser ( preferably bosch) with the correct adapter cable should be able to display basic firing line traces for all cylinders etc
