Bought a pair of led sidelights from led specialist supplier (not ebay rubbish) supposedly the strongest and most likely to be error free. Was told that when I bought them that vito/sprinters don't like led sidelights and may or may not bring in the error on the dash.....
Well it has, looks so much better brilliant bright white light over the dull orangey colour but how can I if possible get the code off, if at all possible? Apart from putting the originals back in.....
Cheers paul

Pappa, what did the specialist supplier tell you when you asked them ?
He told me he has known that some vehicles are OK and some have been known to bring the warning on the display which mine has unfortunatley. He did say that they were the best ones to try and most likely if any leds are to work without error.... but was a chance whether they brought the message up or not

Understood . He told you they might throw a code but can't help to get rid of it , hence you asking on here. 👍
Thats right Pete, I havent even bothered to ask him yet tbh. When I bought them he did say its a bit of a hit or miss as he has known them be ok. Not ebay cheapie so would be the most likely to work without fault. Didn't know if the error could be cancelled if I had a code reader or not? Light does look so much better so will prob live with the error?

You can definitely live withe the error until the next mot, then something will have to be done.

Just been motd last week so thats 👌. Still got the old lamps if I need to swap out for next mot. Is it a failure if it has the error on the display but they work OK?

Were they CANBus safe bulbs? If they weren't or they are and still giving an error most LED suppliers also sell resistors that can be wired inline with the bulbs to stop the errors. Personally I'd be sending them back and trying some others.

Yep Canbus safe leds. The place specialises in led lighting and has been around for a while so I don't doubt his advice on them. Bit disappointed they put the code up and wouldve thought something would be available which doesn't see the lamps as being wrong but, I've spoken to the guy and either gonna have to just live with the error code or change back to the originals. Supposedly he has experience of some mercs being ok and others not must just be on the limit of whether it sees the error?

As far as I'm aware any errors on dash is a fail, but I'm not an mot inspector so others may know differently.

The so called ‘canbus safe’ bulbs just have an inbuilt resistor to emulate the resistance of an incandescent bulb to fool the monitoring system. this resistance is kept as high as possible so as not to produce too much heat and will usually but not always fool the monitoring system.
You would need to wire in a suitable (say 27 ohm 10 watt) resistor in parallel With your bulb to be sure of defeating the monitoring system - possibly a higher value depending what the resistance is inbuilt to the bulb.
Of course the perfect resistance would be obtained by wiring in the original bulb and mounting it safely out of the way.
