Hi All, would anyone be able to help on wing mirror interchangeability between LHD and RHD for w246. Someone rear doored our passenger side mirror and asking German used parts provider they say the LHD drivers mirror would not fit despite part number match (2468100976). I got the part number from wing mirror man page (they have huuuugely long delivery times so looking for alternatives) and it's listed there as the part number for all of the w246 models from 2011 all the way till 2018. In case I source the body from Germany I will need to buy also the glass separately but that can easily be found here in UK as well. I have some problems finding the correct body due to the blind spot assistant and peripheral lighting the car has but could perhaps do with any electric folding body if the cables at least are interchangeable. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Replying to myself, having pulled the mirror off and checked inside it looks like the only pretty much inaccessible connector preventing a full harness switch between a donor body and the old one is the one that goes into the folding mechanism. Does anyone have an easy way to get access to the connector without using excessive force and / or fancy and expensive tools? If not I have ordered the closest match to the mirror body I have I could find readily available and will either change the cable harness partially from the old one (if the part of the harness going to the folding motor matches) or use the old harness but snip off and solder the cable going to the folding motor.

It should be possible to disassemble the mirror right down to give you access to the hinge and make it easier to thread the old harness out.

There are some videos on YouTube for this procedure on some other MB models that should not be too dissimilar to yours and will at least give you a starting point to disassembling the mirror assembly.

It is likely that the casing is a different size as the drivers side one holds the gps antenna. On the 213 (E Class) the drivers mirror body is about 2 cm deeper. Was the same on the RR Evoques that i used to own. The glass is the same and the base is the same, but the cap and bottom part below the indicator is deeper.

And of course the angles of the heads glass are different due to the driver position relative to the mirrors. Usually that is adjustable when dismantled though.....but I cant honestly say I've tried it with Merc mirrors. Also on many models the drivers side mirror is slightly bigger.

Job done, the LHD mirror is exactly the same as the RHD one, the part numbers stamped on the plastic of the frame are the same. The only change needed was to change the mirror cable in the harness from the old mirror to the new one as the new one didn't have the blind spot assist. Judging the mirror glass angle on drivers side it's clear it's the same as passenger one in LHD car, it is possible to adjust the mirror way too much inwards, so much so that you can only see the side of the car. The opposite is true to the passenger mirror, you can barely get the side of the car visible from the mirror when adjusting.
