Is it normal for a 51 year old to be exited at the thought of my new, broken, non running, first ever Mercedes to arrive by transporter tomorrow? We are not talking about a new car here. This is a 12 year old, moderate mileage 'banger' to all intents and purposes.

But, like a kid on Christmas eve, I am actually exited at the thought of finally being able to get bmy hands on the old barge and bring it back to life.

Should I seek medical help at this point?

I think it's great to be excited by it - and I always think it's a good thing to bring life back to unloved cars - such a waste seeing so many cars crushed, when all they need is some effort put into them (by those that can - I wouldn't have a clue)

Take plenty of pictures - starting with the unloading from the transporter and keep us posted! :thumb:

^ what he said. Copius amounts.....but do keep some in stock for those moments after the first "improvement" that goes disastrously wrong..... :D

You're in the twilight zone...but it will arrive and then your spectacles will unfog...rust etc...but enjoy.:thumb:

LOL. Yes, I know what you mean. But I am under no illusions with this car. It is 12 years old and is a Merc C class. It has rust as standard unless proved otherwise. Hopefuly the rest will be worth the effort and if it does have rust here and there, I can live with that. Does it do 50mpg at a push? Yes? Then I want it - rust or not.

I will trust you as you know these cars, but I once got 48mpg out of a Vauxhall Omega 2.5TD CDX auto estate and regularly get 38mpg out of my Laguna 3.0v6 petrol Auto. I would hope to be able to see high 40's on a run if not early 50's at a steady 55mph.

You think you're bad..... I'm excited about finally collecting on wednesday my latest toy, a Toyota!! How sad is that!! :D

How much do you charge and do you do home visits?

Hmmm the diagnosis is bleak I'm afraid.

Symptoms:
Constant need to trawl ebay to find parts to upgrade your car
Constant discussion about what modifications have been carried out
Enthusiasm at old - pre 2000 mercedes models
Discussion with other forum members on 'neat' modifications which could be done to your car
Cold sweat at the mention of V8 (see Ian B. Walker)
Rapid spending of spare cash on said modifications

Diagnosis: You have the modding bug

Treatment: Spend as much time as possible on MBClub discussing your problems with like minded people who share same problems :devil::devil:
