Limcet box and Waze

A few years ago I had a Limcet box installed in my 2018 model C class so that I could use Apple Car Play. Overall I've been very happy with the system, however occasionally I experience a problem when using Waze in that it isn't possible to scroll through the menus using the cars control wheel in the centre console.

I can change to other satnav apps that are installed, such as Apple Maps or Google Maps, and they work perfectly fine. As it is an intermittent problem I've not been able to replicate it at a suitable time so as to try fixing it, it always seems to happen at the least appropriate time possible!

Has anyone else had this issue and know of a way to fix it? Waze is my preferred satnav app as it has the features that I find the most useful all in one place so I would really like to get to the bottom of this if at all possible.

I don't have the answer, but I would start by ensuring that the Limcet box has the latest software, the iOS and the Waze app up are to date, and - more difficult - that your Audio20 or COMAND NTG5*2 is on the latest firmware (requires dealer or specialist with STAR). Then, I'd reboot the phone, and try a different Lightning (or USB-C) cable. If you're connecting wirelessly, then I'd try a cable instead just to see if the issue persists. Good luck.

Thank you but seeing as the only app that has this issue is Waze I was hoping that there might be a particular setting somewhere that loses focus or some such.

As that doesn't seem to be the case I'll just muddle along as I have been, thankfully it's easy enough to select and use a different app when Waze has a strop!

My post detailed the standard steps to take... and I speak as a former IT guy. 40 years in the business tought me that applying logic before applying the standard steps often does not yield a solution to the problem. Best of Luck.

As I have managed to find a fix to this problem I thought I would share it in case it helps anyone else that has a similar issue.

On the odd occasion that this happens I turn off the iPhones wi-fi, after thirty seconds or so I turn the wi-fi on again and everything works as it should.
