Hi All, new guy here, recently bought a 2010 C63, and loving it.
It has recently (July) been serviced by a Merc specialist, and seems to be running really well. However - I have had the "check oil when next refueling" message appear a few times, which I have done.. no oil leaks are apparent, and also it has gone in to some sort of limp mode 3 or 4 rimes now. No warnings , no noises or other symptoms, just limited to 20 mph , once ignition turned off and back on its fine and will stay fine for a few days each time. It has never cut power when "normal driving" at speed, it has always been when driving around local town, and on a slope or hill..

possibly connected - the dipstick ring pull bit has broken off and I am not certain exactly where the dipstick should sit within the tube to ensure I am getting accurate levels.. could it be that even though I am checking the oil, and think its ok, it is actually low , could this cause the limp mode.?

cheers, mark

Does your 'Merc specialist' have STAR? What does the live data say about the limp mode? Any stored codes?

How long since you bought the car , I would be thinking warranty conversation with the dealer asap ?

Hi, there are no stored codes that I have seen on my own OBD reader, but it hasn't yet been to the specialist.. cheers

For the cost and possible consequential damage I think a replacement dipstick would be a worthwhile investment.
