How to get out of electrical limp mode
my c200 1999 has been stuck in limp mode for a week , after a reverse light switch fix,
what are the different limp modes and solutions ...please help i am in trouble

My guess is you have done something to the gearshift electrics [ or the reverse light problem lies elsewhere- a short somewhere draining voltage] Because the Gearbox ECU "talks" to the engine ECU and its registering something wrong- this is causing the Engine ECU to go into limp home mode to protect the transmission. That would be my guess- perhaps try disconnecting that new reverse light switch as a test?
this post might help http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w21...n-recognition-switch-removal.html#post3900505

It is not a new switch, the same one...just built up the plastic a bit where it has worn out, due to Years of wear...the switch is fine....the page uh directed me too was the one I used to dismantle....

Time to get it on a MB star system. If its a can bus problem I can only advise close inspection of the connectors at each end of the units in question.

I have connected it..WA saying unable to communicate with shifter...so I bought a new shifter...still getting limp mode even after clearing all faults...it says gear shifter in a position!!! Any ideas?

my C63 went into limp after disconnecting a MAF sensor. Not good having the car limited to 15mph.
However, the fix for mine was to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. Not sure if this would help for you, but it cleared mine so might be worth a try if you have not done it already

W202 gurus I have found I think what my problem is...how do I tell my transmission is in park before I put shifter back on

Brake switch id find I guides that..now I got cruise control back

If you pull the gearbox linkage backwards, the gearbox will be in Park, then check the selector lines up with the linkage connection hole. If not adjustment is needed.

I have done that reset many times ,, no joy...
I have tried replacing the gear shifter with the gear shaft in different positions and get the same result..
MB star machine diag... Saying shifter in z position...let me get a pic up...

Any ideas how to read theses schematics so "I can take over the world",,,
How to read theses where too put the voltmeter so I know what gear it is in
