Just bought a 2012 110cdi Vito, the dreaded limp mode has attacked. I’m pretty good mechanically and the van has been in the garage. Getting limp mode even when the Engine management light is not on, ive bought a reader and it’s saying egr fault but my mechanic has checked and said there is no fault with this. I’m also getting a warning of too much oil when cruising on the motor way. What do I try next, do I replace egr valve or is there a way of disabling the limp mode, I should have said it won’t rev over 3000rpm.cheers Alan

Check the oil level to start with. If it is too high then check if it smells of diesel. Whichever way you need to change the oil if it is, diesel over run is not good which can happen with too much oil.

Diesel in the oil raising the level is a sign of incomplete DPF regen cycles.

Is your mechanic a Merc specialist with Star, or just using an industry generic tool to check things?
